Re: Controlling a 7 segment 4 digit display with a Raspberry

Well, I learned something(correct me if I am wrong): a python script does not read the updated env variable value in a terminal. It will keep the values it reads when it is invoked. SO I reverted back to my second idea of using a file on a ramdisk for communication(and it is working). I still wonder...

Re: Controlling a 7 segment 4 digit display with a Raspberry

Next step is converting this in a generic "display_script.py" reading its data from an external source. The fun part is the display cannot stop/starve (always dynamic). I am thinking about using the global variable approach os.environ.["7SEGDISP"]="0123": example: script "calculate_primes.py" output...

Re: Dupont male to male connector: does it exist?

Maybe now is the time to learn how to solder. Funny guy ;) I could also use a short home made 26 pins or 40 pins ribbon cable. It would be much faster to get the result, compare to soldering. I could also just use a small breadboard. I could also just build a pcb with two male/female headers shorte...

Re: Dupont male to male connector: does it exist?

Hi Joan, Thank you for your suggestion. But I am looking for a connector that will allow me to connect two males end together. What you are proposing is to add a 20 cm female-female extension between my two males cable to join them. Maybe what I am looking for simply does not exist: "The opposite of...

Dupont male to male connector: does it exist?

I cannot figure out why I cannot find a male to female converter or a male to male connector. I am probably not use the right naming (I am french). I am looking for something to allow me to connect together male Dupont wires together. Something like this, but female on both ends (number of positions...

Re: Controlling a 7 segment 4 digit display with a Raspberry

Using Dougie's code (Many thanks) I got it working with a 3.3v 4 digit display with built-in resistor. I wired the display using my raspio Ruler as a reference, so I had to replace: GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BOARD) by: GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BCM) EBAY 8 SEG LED Board Four 8-Segment Digits Digital Display informa...

Did you buy the pi2 & sd card bundled or from two different vendors? if it was not from the same vendor, maybe the noobs version you have on the SD card is too old to be used on the pi2 Please post the link to Amazon. It might help people to help you. Also, please read the boot sticky: boot sticky p...

The pins that are used are the same if you access the card with SPI but the internal structure of how blocks are handled is different so the problem might be just old firmware or drivers. http://elm-chan.org/docs/mmc/mmc_e.html Hum, you are raising some doubts in my mind. It looks like it only supports the SD standard capacity format, not SDHC. I had some really old microSD Card readers that only handled SD. Re: Fake microSD card ? nope fake USB reader

Got it ;) ,
I will go to the Canadian version of "poundland" (dollorama) to see if I can find a similar reader.

Unbelievable that the Reader defect would show the behavior of a fake 2GIG SD card labeled as a 8GIG.
I have no logical explanation for that.
