Re: I think I fried my GPIOs - GPIOs switching back to low

Were do I send the check? You guys are life savers! Turns out what I thought was an LED is in fact a mini incandescent lamp and probably requires more power than the GPIO pin was willing to part with. I ripped an actual LED out of a hard drive enclosure and it worked right away. MY GPIOs WORK!! Than...

Re: I think I fried my GPIOs - GPIOs switching back to low

It is quite possible that the power available at the 3.3V power-line is MUCH more than what the CPU can deliver on a GPIO pin. So it is quite possible that your "led" is shorting the output directly to the ground, and that therefore a "readback" of the port pin is giving the fact that the pin is st...

Are my GPIOs fried?! HELP!

Here is the short (... no pun intended) and skinny. Bought a pi cobbler, soldered it up (totally did a bad job but I kind of fixed it, removing any solder bridges). After purchasing some jumper wires , I grabbed a small led out of a set of Christmas tree lights to see if I could use it on my breakou...

Re: Anybody know how to make a splash screen

In Notepad++ on Windows it tells you what format the file is in. If it says "Dos\Windows" in the lower-right status bar then go to : Edit > EOL Conversion > UNIX Format The status in the lower-right will change to "UNIX". You can then FTP to your Pi and not have any problems. When you re-open the t...

Re: Anybody know how to make a splash screen

I got this to work, dispute experiencing the copy paste issue. Only problem is... now when ever my pi boots, it will display the image for a couple of seconds and then goes into a blank screen. I have my resolution set to 1920x1200 w/32bit. Anyone else experience this? Full disclosure, the OS...
