Re: Dispmanx - native_image_buffer question?

In vc_dispmanx_resource_create, the last argument is a pointer called native_image_buffer. What is this used for? While all the other arguments are self-explanatory, this one has be a little stumped. Is it a memory map of the resource's pixel data? I had no luck with using the APIs to locate the un...

Re: Dispmanx - native_image_buffer question?

And another, slightly related issue: I can't seem to bind dispmanx resources to an EGLImage. Is this possible? Every time I try it acts like it works, but the handle every time is 0x80000000 and if I try to use it I get errors. My code: vcBuffer = vc_dispmanx_resource_create(VC_IMAGE_RGB565, width, ...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

For some reason Retroarch hangs about a minute or so into any game (any console) that i run. any idea why that might be happening? The hangs were related to VideoCore driver updates, which were just reverted in today's fw update. Download that and everything should run fine again. Thank you!! :D No...

The Atari core is not as tested as the others, and might have bugs like this.

The SNES issues are a result of using a hacked core for increased speed, and will require fixing.

Re: SNES with audio, anyone?

Do not use bsnes on the Raspberry Pi, you will never get anything approaching a playable speed with it.

PocketSNES is probably your best bet for now.

Hello, I have been running the command retroarch -c /home/pi/retroarch.cfg to try and use the joypad. I have saved the output of the joypad config tool into said retroarch.cfg. Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

es_input.cfg is only used for joysticks. The Enter key is used to launch a game. It sounds like it's trying to launch the emulator, but the emulator is terminating immediately. Try running a game with RetroArch without EmulationStation - e.g. retroarch -L path/to/core.so rom.smc, see if that works....

That sounds interesting! Are you using the HDMI or analog output? Did you make any changes to the /boot/config.txt? Which clock frequencies are you using? Feel free to provide your settings at https://github.com/petrockblog/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Sound-Issues! The only /boot/config.txt setting I had w...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

If someone wants to take a shot at making a OpenMAX IL driver for RetroArch, they can feel free too. All it has to do is play streaming PCM audio and implement audio blocking (for sync purposes). Should be pretty trivial using the hello_audio as a base. But, I think most of the audio problem is bec...

90% of the time I get that is because the compiler runs out of memory. Adding some swap space or switching to a higher memory split. BTW, for most of those cores you should be able to get at or near full speed, with some exceptions: * imame4all: Speed depends on the game. Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

The issues with Emulation Station might be because the Linux Raw input driver expects the standard input (stdin) to be a TTY, and aborts if it detects it is not. The method of launching the emulator probably messes with stdin enough that it doesn't try to use the driver.

Re: "Failed to add service" and other problems

I did some more testing, and it turns out only programs using GLES/OpenVG were failing, and it had nothing to do with the firmware they were compiled under. Programs just using OpenMAXIL (like omxplayer) worked fine. Going back to an old firmware version (with old libraries) fixed it.

"failed to add service - already in use?" error

After the latest firmware update, any time I try to run a program with GLES/OpenVG, I get an error like this:

Code: Select all

3422136784: * failed to add service - already in use?
where the number changes each time. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I've recently been getting that same error, but only with programs compiled on the newer firmware update. Stuff compiled on an earlier update still work file.

The way RetroArch is set up, it is very easy to link it to a frontend. Not sure if any actually work with it, but adding support would be trivial.
