I feel they are now days. How long has it been since you have audited what they consider to be an appropriate standard of education.

It's a measurement form the point of view of a corporation. That corporation has a bunch of programmers on the payroll. They get large projects done using large teams over years. That corporation knows how long a project took, how many man hours they had to pay for, all the way from concept through...

DavidS, OK. All the code you write is perfectly clear to you. We will never know how well it reads for the rest of us because as far as I can tell you have never shown any here. If you say so. I do admit that since you have been hanging out I have posted a lot less code than I did before then. I ev...

I'm curious how ScriptBasic will compare performance wise and code compatiblity with BBC BASIC on RISC OS.
There are obviously some significant differences. I am hoping we will have some close speeds once optimized though.

ARM BASIC

As I have gotten interested in a rather odd ball BASIC implimentation called ScriptBasic, and I see threads about verious other BASIC implementations that are available for Linux ARMHF, RISC OS, ARM BSD, etc, I figured it is worth a look at the first BASIC to be widely used on the ARM CPU, one that ...

I hope that John gets someone to do the Raspian side of things. I might reintroduce the extension module as UKB and see if anyone wants to run with it. I personally have no interest in retro BASIC. BBC BASIC is the one BASIC that can not be called retro. Not unless you feel the likes of C is a retr...

if Steve Drain grants his permision to do so I guess I could probably dump the text files out of the stronghelp manual.

Remember formatting is likely to be all wrong, and the links will have no meaning.

Re: Using the NEON vmvn instruction

Having tested with 3 different assemblers, it looks like your issue is your choise of assembler.

Not sure if the compiler you are using gives an option for the assembler, though you may want to try a different assembler as the output of your compiler.

I agreed to get ScriptBasic with the Brandy Basic extensions running on RISC OS. As such I am still working on that goal. Ok back on RISC OS with the complete ScriptBasic source.

As I signed on to port ScriptBasic to RISC OS, I am going to continue on that path.

Perhaps this is better continued in the ScriptBasic thread.

David, It seems you have no interest in Raspbian so I've given up hope you would be the guy to give the Brandy extension module a refresh for RPi users. It will be interesting to see if you can get ScriptBasic running on RISC OS. ScriptBasic runs great on ReactOS if a Windows alternative excites yo...

DavidS, Read again. I explained where to get the tool to extract the files from the StrongHelp ImageFS. I read again. No you did not. No links to anywhere. No instructions. Nothing. Whatever "ImageFS" is, it's not a file system that Linux or any other OS knows about. ASCII itself is only recently b...

Re: ScriptBasic

ScriptBasic core has good a chance of running on RISC OS from what I'm hearing from David. My C BASIC wrapped extension modules may be an issue if gcc pre-processor support isn't available. The native C source can be generated with gcc -E. I am using GCC on RISC OS so should not be a difficulty the...

ScriptBasic is never going to run under RISC OS. What makes you say that? Most of (maybe all of) those libraries are available for RISC OS. I just will not use libraries for the sake of using libraries. This is the kind of thing that causes people to have hundreds of libraries that do almost the sa...

DavidS, If you write a function definition as: CalcPosErr(...); I'm almost certain you will put a comment on it like: // Calculate position error And you would be wrong on that. If there is a need to explain parameters I will put a comment to that effect, though why repeat the name that is already ...

Re: I dont get it... Why is everyone from science schools so obsessed with Perl and Python when we got C?

On modern machines I rarely add more that a dozen lines of code without testing. Sensible. Then, if things break, its easy to find the change that caused the problem. So long as it is not a bug somewhere else in the code from a missed sanity check or bounds check that just did not show up until then.

Did you wait. If you are not connected to the internet it will take a minute to get past the net-startup.

The no keyboard thing can be ignored. That is from the kernel before the USB drivers are loaded. You do probably have a keyboard.

Never. I agree that Linux will never catch up with RISC OS in certain things. I also agree there are a couple of things where Linux has an edge (only a couple though) that RISC OS will not. For most of the rest RISC OS is heading quickly to catching up, or in some cases is already there. And RISC O...

Make sure to download the dependencies first. Install them and skip any warnings. You have to be kidding. Musketeer, Problem is human psychology too: test shows that people have tendency to first judge word by its first and last character. So people notice at once that it is "Heater" even when you write "Heaterar" or "Heatr" (especially if it is subject) instead and ""Aheate notice fastest. What proble...
