how can I store automatically crash dump when my Rpi crashes? no idea... depending on, what the reason is - what kind of crash it is - mostely, when the RPi crashes, because of bad power or SD card, there is no way to write a dump to SD card ;) is there nothing unusual written in the log files in t...

Re: Large File Transfer + File System?

sure, you can... do you know how? your NAS, is it a windows share? your RPi, is there samba enabled? is that RPi only connected to the NAS for exchanger the media files, or is it connected permanently - if so, then for what do you need an external HDD on that RPi, when it is permanently connected to...

Re: Loading Operating System

is your RPi is connected to the internet?
only raspbian wheezy is preinstalled in NOOBS to select without need of downloading from internet.
all other OS's needs to be loaded via internet - no internet means maybe not be able to select - (i did not tried, if it is like that)

and in case, you start straight into LXDE, then you have to install xorg sudo apt-get -y --force-yes install xorg and add folowing setterm -blank 0 -powerdown 0; xset s off; xset -dpms to the end of /etc/X11/Xsession.d/40x11-common_xsessionrc . so it looks something like: # This file is sourced by X...

Re: prevent hdmi from sleeping

Hello, hwo can I prevent RPi hdmi output from going to "sleep mode" after some time? I want to do this - everytime I connect hdmi to my Rpi it should output signal to hdmi (without any keystroke on keyboard). I need this because RPi crashes sometimes and without this I have no idea what has happene...

Value returned for Max Power consumed is 500mA. PS.: when you type in lsusb -v 2> /dev/null | grep MaxPower then you will get a list of only all the maxpower values of all currently connected usb devices. you can add them together, add the nominal consumption of the RPi itself, then the sum of all ...

I doubt that will make any difference. That last field is a comment and isn't used for anything other than making the file readable. humm... maybe you are right, and i am wrong. because ssh-copy-id -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub [email protected] and cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub | ssh [email protected] "...

Re: Large File Transfer + File System?

if you want to use windows to access the HDD directly, then you have only the choices to use NTFS or FAT32. FAT32 is more limited by handling big files and size of partition, but is faster and easier to handle by linux. NTFS is better for big files and partitions, but is slower and may has some issu...

1. it would be better when you would post all the information at the beginning, not in little tiny pieces.
2. did you changed something on your RPi or in PuTTY recently just before you noticed the problems?

you try to log in as user "root" via SSH, and in the local network (LAN) is is working like this, but not from outside the local network (WAN). are you using the authentification via public key (using the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys)? the problem i see are the dynamic IPs, when you connect you to your RP...

Does this mean that I will not be able to get floating point precision out of this? NO, a normal RTL dongle has only 8bit resolution. (the brand new AirSpy has 12bit resolution, but i don't know if rtl_sdr is compatible to that) so the maximum precision you will get is 8bit. even when you convert t...

that's strange... i have dropped my "MAC blacklist" from the dnsmasq configuration on my RPi, so now the computers that get their IP from the DSL router and is handled by the RPi for PXE boot. and computers that not in the whitelist of the DSL router will get an IP from dnsmasq of my RPi and PXE- bo...

ok, i found my problem, why my RPi wasn't giving devices an IP that are not handled by the DLS router. in my PXE configuration of dnsmasq, there was a proxy option enabled dhcp-range=192.168.0.0, proxy this will prevent to giving IP's. by uncommenting this line, new "unmanaged by DSL router" devices...

from time to time some RPi are droped out...
to get a replacement of a not working RPi should be not a problem.
that should be covered by normal regular waranty.
the bad thing is, the waste of time and the stress with the give back the bad RPi to get a replacement.
