Re: Setup WiFi settings not through SSH

Thanks jaylongley. As I said in the first post, this is not intended for techie people. I prefer ssh myself but this is definitely something most people know.
My ideal solution includes:
* Cross-platform
* No installation required
hence my tendency towards the web interface :)

Re: Setup WiFi settings not through SSH

The logic is to have eth0 static to something like 192.168.1.20 or 192.168.2.20 (or both) and wlan0 dhcp. Wire it to the router temporarily Access the web gui via http://192.168.1.20/ Scan wireless networks Select your network and enter credentials See your wlan0 IP Disconnect ethernet cable Use wla...

Setup WiFi settings not through SSH

Hello everybody, I am planning to make an appliance with RasPi that would require WiFi internet connectivity. As this will be used by total not-techie people I'm trying to find a way to allow people setup their home WiFi SSID/encryption type/password in order to connect the RasPi to their home netwo...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

I did change the wiring to the upper schematic as you had suggested before (normal high is better-you were right :idea: ): http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~db434/raspi/images/EGHS-PullUpDownSwitchProtected.jpg I dont see garbled text (yet) but I am sure it was java crashing while writing on the screen. I fo...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Hey there, please note 3 mistakes in the instructions on git and the README.md inside the master.zip on the java side. 1. Please change this line: sudo mv boiler-control-master/scripts/boilercontrol/* /etc/init.d/ to this: sudo mv boiler-control-master/scripts/init.d/boilercontrol /etc/init.d/ 2. Ru...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

Before updating to the new code I had the Raspi run for 4 days and I couldn't make it crash once!
Its always like that when you want it to crash :)

Will be updating the code now to the latest version and let you know of any issues.

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

I had the same problem with the random chars and I thought it was just me though :) This happened with the previous code version. I haven't tried the new one yet. Will do in a bit. I really dont think its the hardware of the display though. I believe something happens with java while trying to write...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

You are right about the space on the screen. I have actually removed the "heating" feature as my house has two isolated systems for hot water (electrical) and heating (gas) which are quite apart and I dont plan to integrate (aka wire) heating just yet so I used the freed up space of heating info on ...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

carry on replying to my own questions... :) Boost feature already worked as I wanted it. It does set a timer but is "hardcoded" in the SQL to 60 minutes. I modified the code so that the Water Boost button starts adding 10s of minutes up to 60 where it resets back to 0 (and you can repeat cycling to ...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

I NOW HAVE A FULLY WORKING BOILER CONTROLLER! I was going crazy as my boost buttons appeared to be getting pressed continuously and the LEDs I had instead of the relays for the time being were going on and off every few seconds. I thought it was a problem (as I said before in my ToDo list) of the wi...

Re: Wifi Internet Boiler

First of all congrats for making such a great effort to document all your work. I find it the most boring part after I finish hacking away but as gorstj feels, its not fair to the rest of the community who always help... so, here is my input. ***SOFTWARE & CONFIGURATION*** I tried the install instru...
