What Rii?

I'm about to buy a Rii for my Raspberry Pi, but have realised there are many different (well, 3) versions of it. But there are different sites that market them with different names (V2, mini, 2013) so I don't really know which model is the newest/best, and I have seen prices ranging from £10 to £30....

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

Well if it's any help I usually use this format for /etc/network/interfaces file auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet dhcp allow-hotplug wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-ssid "network-name" wpa-psk "network-password" Works with all the wifi adaptors I have including the EW7811Un. And addin...

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

Yeah I guess it could be trying to use the IP but failing as it isn't connected anymore, but I've never seen that before! I think I might try flashing an SD (again) and then manually setting up the Wi-Fi over SSH in the interfaces file, then rebooting and disconnecting the Ethernet cable. I never kn...

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

You could try changing pairwise=TKIP to pairwise=CCMP MrEngman After a reboot, it seems to be working still after doing this. But it just seems slower than normal? Haven't tried unplugged it yet, I'll try a shutdown now and move it somewhere else and see if it's still working. You could always try ...

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

I have seen a great many WiFI mini dongles fail. Some in hours, some in days and some in a few months. Eventually all of the ones I bought failed. I have written off all the small dongles and only use the bigger bulkier wifi adapters. I thought it must have been the adapter, but it works in my Wind...

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

Hi, I've seen some issues with wpa_supplicant.conf when updating/upgrading when there appeared to be a problem with the pairwise setting where the original setting that worked before the update had to be changed to get it back working. Weird and I've no idea why. You could try changing pairwise=TKI...

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

Might be an idea to post the contents of file /etc/network/interfaces and if you use wpa_supplicant the contents of /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf as well, so we can see how the networking is configured in case there's a problem with the configuration. MrEngman Was just in the process of g...

I'm not sure to be honest, I edited the post above with ifconfig, does that show anything?

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

Don't worry about those messages. They're just a feature of updating sshd while you're using it. Okay. I did the updates, and unfortunately it still isn't working correctly. Unplugging and then plugging back in again sometimes makes it flash a few times, then it stops. But, if the Ethernet cable is...

Re: Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

Get your RPi connected with a wire to your router. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo rpi-update Reboot Disconnect the wire and try again with wireless. I'll try it, but what does dist-upgrade and rpi-update actually do? It was the latest image from the site, and I did the update is...

Edimax Wi-Fi adapter not functioning correctly

Hi, I have the Edimax EW-7811UN Wi-Fi adapter for my Pi, and it has worked well. But I haven't used my Pi for quite a while, but now I have some time off, I wanted to start playing with it again. I flashed the latest Raspbian and setup Wi-Fi, and it was working, but then it started to become very sl...

Re: Raspberry Pi Stats/Facts

It's not actually homework though, I don't go to school/college/uni.

I'm just looking for some quick facts I could write about. It's for a blog post I need to write. I'm just trying to spice it up a bit as I haven't got much experience with it.

Raspberry Pi Stats/Facts

Hey everyone, I have to write a sort of 200 word 'essay' on the Raspberry Pi. So I am looking for any interesting facts and stats about the Pi. I have looked in the FAQ and various places online, but can't really find many. Anything interesting would be useful (sales, projects, comparisons etc. anyt...

I tend to use this Python module for Twitter: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/twitter There is a simple example of using that module in the CAS Raspberry Pi Education Manual: http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/Raspberry_Pi_Education_Manual.pdf Saying that, there is probably nothing wrong with the Python...

Re: Beep when mentioned on Twitter

In that OCR example: 1. GPIO.cleanup() is in the wrong place. At the beginning of the program there is nothing to clean up because your program has not done anything yet! It should be placed at the end of your script. 2. The line 'while (True):' will work but is better written as 'while True:'. The...

NOOBS or Raspbian?

I haven't used my Pi for a while, I came back to it and think it may have been hacked and had the password changed. CloudFlare Updating

Hey guys, I have previously been using noip's updater and ssh'ing using a no-ip address. I decided it would be better to use my own domain, so I found that I can automatically update a subdomain using CF. So I can use pi.mysite.com for example, rather than the ip or a no-ip address. I followed this ...

Re: OpenELEC vs Raspbmc?

Using OpenELEC videos play almost instantly from a USB, and even if I stream over Wi-Fi it still takes seconds rather than minutes!

Maybe a new flashed SD would solve it?

OpenELEC vs Raspbmc?

I know this has been asked many times, but I can't find any recent comparisons. And the developers are updating them all the time.

So, what are you using now?
