Check the USB mode set on the D80. You also need to ensure the camera is switched on.

I should say a big Thankyou to Frank for his hard work on this. I had it up and running with no problems. The only issue now is that when soldering my A2D converter I fried it somewhat so am now looking for a new one. Everything else works fine.

So all we need is a hack in gphoto2 that will send a resetusb command after each interaction. Did it not do that? Or is it a feature of the USB implementation on the Pi.

The other question is what side effects this will have. I use a USB wireless. Oh well, one more thing to try out tonight.

Many thanks for that. I was hoping you would provide a pre-compiled kernel as my cross-compiling options are limited.

The GPS unit does use 5v, but why couldn't I just plug in to the 5v header to supply the correct voltage? If it is a cheap hub that doesn't regulate each channel to 500mA then yes, it will work. It is how I run mine (though with a 4 port hub)

I don't know if you are in the right forest, but I am happily following your scent as you are barking int he same direction as me.. I've just ordered a different i2c ADC which claims to have kernel support, and an i2c io register so it will be interesting to see how this works out.

The ralink module should be a simple apt-get install. I just installed something similar and was amazed how easy it was. Try 'sudo apt-cache search ralink' and see what appears.

They are quite well supported

I'm hoping to use some I2C ADC for a project but am a little unsure how to read the values from the ADC. The hardware side seems fine - run 5v and ground to the ADC and read the data line through a 5v/3.3v level converter. I'm not sure which ADC to use or how to get the values. I presume I can just ...

Those patches went into the 2.6 kernel and appear to be in the 3.2 source so I don't think it is that. I haven't done an exhaustive check though.

I found that the long Kindle cable dropped the voltage too much for reliable behaviour. You may want to try a shorter USB cable.

Thank you guys so much for the code and examples - it worked pretty much straight out of the box (once I had put the DS1820 in the right way round and let the polyfuse reset..)
