Re: Windows Programs on Rpi2?

What I want to do is use my pi, then there is this little mini project I'd like to explore with it. I have a dual core laptop with 4gb of ram, a dual core water cooled desktop with 6gb of ram and an 2x 4core 8gb of ram goliath of a desktop/server that I could easily use. I even have a dual core low ...

Windows Programs on Rpi2?

I'm not talking about your latest versions of Photoshop CS here or rendering Toystory, but I was looking into more stuff from around the 2002 era like Photoshop lol, back then it was version 5, my PC was like 200mhz with 64mb ram and windows ME, I then upgraded to a 1100mhz 512mb ram beast, which I ...

Re: I feel like betrayed

I think I know how you feel, for me though its more that the pi2 and pi3 are the same price! Essentially though, if you have had a pi2 for 2 months, why are you worried, what are you using your Pi2 for that a Pi3 would be that much better about? I'm thinking that having only bought a Pi2 a month ago...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Q&A thread

Seems like the Pi foundation are getting the pi to tablet like hardware performance specs (most tablets have 1gb of memory and are 1300mhz quad core) and this is great. So people moaning about memory probably need to stop and think. Back in 1990 the average computer was in the 10-20mhz single core w...

Re: Input video from car head unit

So your looking to make your cars navigation look better by putting in a better screen and a raspberry pi? If so that might not really work because you'd be limited by the nav systems output in the first place. Next up is how do you know its a low resolution screen? If your basing the assumption on ...

Re: Small rechargeable battery for project?

I think you may struggle to find a 1.6oz battery. I looked at something that said 1.6oz is about 45g, which is the average weight of an 18650 lithium ion battery. That said something like a mobile phone battery may give slightly better weight to power ratio, but then you also have to think that any ...

Re: PI2 -- HD camcorder?

Maybe have a look at this: http://raspi.tv/tag/raspberry-pi-camcorder The guy built a camcorder of sorts which is button controlled, but equally he also added bluetooth connectivity so you remote into it. I used his instructions/code and modded it enough to be a CCTV camera that could record for upt...

Re: Pin 23, whats it configured for?

Ok so I have had a look at everything again and found a mistake but am now slightly more mystified. So my fan wouldnt turn off because the earth was connected to the same side of the transistor as the earth it was supposed to connect to! So then I rewired it so one side of the transistor has the inp...

Re: Pin 23, whats it configured for?

Strangely according to raspi-config, SPI is disabled  I have used pin 23 and pin 24 which apparently are part of the SPI interface, but under raspi-config you can set spi to be loaded automatically or disabled, I checked and it said it was disabled. I really dont want to have to resolder i...

Pin 23, whats it configured for?

I only ask because I decided to use it to control something (a transistor) but basically the thing is permanently on. I also get an error about it already being in use?

Re: Rehash old topic of shutdown circuit

I have found that the battery packs come in mixed varieties. I have one excellent 5 cell pack (that I bought as a shell and filled myself with batteries) which can be charged while outputting, this is great for a UPS style pack. I also have an 8 cell one which will either charge or discharge but not...

Re: Outdoor casing for Pi 2 and Sense HAT

When you say outdoor case, what sort of use are we talking about here?

Ultimately I would just suggest getting an IP65 rated enclosure and make mounts inside yourself, but depends on what your going to use it for?

Re: Rehash old topic of shutdown circuit

Sounds great and I did something similar with a model A for 6 months outside. I wish I had managed a better solution with shut downs, I had umpteen brown outs (roughly once a week as it was running on batteries only) and that shortens the life span alot! There are a few things I might suggest you lo...

Well if you look at one of the pictures further down the page, theres a pic of one with wires on it, you'll see the connection. at the bottom has red/black/yellow/white, Now I was guessing but that seems like a power/ground/video/other connection. I have an A, 2x B, 2x B+, Pi2B and a Zero, which for some reason each time i see older A and B models cheap on ebay I kind of snap them up wanting to make good use of them for the next projec...

what are you playing on? I know Xbox360 has video out as well as HDMI and surely you could get a cheap USB grabber for under 20 quid and do it that way maybe.

Its not just the pi, as I know it'll happily working in a black box in a sunny desert all day, its a bit torrent server so its a combination of the 5v stepdown power supply, usb hub and the hard drive along with the pi, I was surprised at how warm the whole setup got when it was working, but on idle...

How much load will the Pi's 3.3v GPIO pin supply?

The reason I ask is, I am building a little bit torrent server and testing has show the pi and its power supply do generate a little heat, so in the interest in keeping temperatures down I thought if I have a tiny fan (30x30x5)in the case (about the size of a good book!) would be enough to keep the ...
