I didn't even bother trying. Have a look at raspbmc. You'll need another sd card but it works. Full media centre which boots in seconds.

Here's a little script I wrote by adapting the tutorial in the Raspberry Pi guide. It calculates the amount of alcohol in ml per euro of a drink. Handy when you're down to your last fiver.
