Liz did say that she was up in Leeds today with Eben... and that's about where Farnell is based, so maybe they are just awaiting their stock delivery.

Re: Phone call from Farnell!

I got a call from Farnell yesterday, too. They asked me whether it was for business or personal use, and when I said personal I was told that they wouldn't add me to the marketing list - so I suspect that was the reason.

Re: Dial-up router

I used to use a D-Link DP802. This has an ethernet port, serial port to hook a modem to and a parallel port for a printer. (Actually, I still use this as a network print server. Current uptime is 78 days.)

I think that the DP602 might be the same but without the printer port.

I wonder if there are any FM services that transmit the time or may DVB services.

BBC radio does (well, radio one anyway). With the RDS unit in my car I can just poke two of the buttons on the display and it will reset the clock.

Nice toys!

I would be interested in the display for another project. Would you happen to have dimensions to hand (I need to try and fit it in a 1U server)?

[Edit: meant to ask - how long did it take to ship?]

Is it really wise to use this homegrown alternative? Silicone caulk can give of a hell of a lot of acetic acid, and I'm not convinced that it's such a good idea having an essentially corrosive chemical in contact with a circuit board.
