Re: Ethernet Port is shuting down

I was having major issues with the eth0 port stop working after about 1/2 an hour after bootup. I had a powered usb hub connected to it and my keyboard/mouse/camera and a 4 gig usb stick plugged in. I swapped out the hub for a different hub and my nic is rock solid stable now. Seems something is rea...

Can anyone compile XBMC from GIT right now?

I've been trying and trying but with all the code changes lately I am no longer able to compile it. I'm not trying to compile the whole OpenELEC or whatever it's called, or the whole Raspbmc. I have setup a chrooted environment for Raspbian on Ubuntu 12.10 and like I said I used to be able to compil...

Re: HOWTO: Virtual Raspbian on Qemu in Ubuntu Linux 12.10

apologies for the novice question,... will I be able to reboot again to my normal Ubuntu O/S, or do the above instructions fry my existing setup? No worries, you do not need to reboot at all, you mount it and it is in chroot and you unmount it and you're back to your existing setup. I run byobu [an...

Need help with Jenkins Server and XBMC

if anyone knows how to configure Jenkins server to compile XBMC please PM me or post here. I am at a total loss :( I spent a week or so writing my own build scripts for RPI and it worked great for about 2 weeks until the devs changed everything over to Jenkins, now I am lost. I have been building XB...

HowTo: Prepare Raspbian for chroot using Windows.

How to chroot RPI envoronment. Keep in mind this took me so many hours to figure out it's not even funny. I'm not exactly a nix guru by any means of the word. I found most of the info doing about 600 Google searches on so many sites that I unfortunatly did not write down that I will just give a shou...

Valuable info above, which is absolutely worth its own thread, or people who arent running Linux might never see it... I'll start a new thread later today with a bit more info on how to do it, such as how to edit the file in etc if you don't do it before creating the image. I'll also add how to use...

Re: A couple questions pertaining to a raspberry pi quadcopt

I kind of plan on doing the same thing, except on a hexa and only for video. There are cheaper control boards that are specialized for controlling the heli with gyros and everything onboard. Plus the power pull of the pi is WAY more than a dedicated control board. And they already have a ton of user...

ipv4 dropping

A few days ago I started having a problem with ipv4 dropping. If I do an ifdown eth0 and then ifup eth0 it comes back up but since it's down I have to do it via the console on my TV. I can't ssh to it :( I tried a different patch cable so that is not the issue. Does anyone else see this? Unplugging ...

I also would agree that it is probably an iffy wall wart. Phone chargers aren't exactly the most stable units out there. Also the usb cable is even more iffy. I have several that work GREAT and some that do not. And cost != quality with these things, some of my cheaper ones work better than some of ...

I'd just do a clean install, then mount the old card using a cheap usb reader and then copy everything from the old card to the new one.

I just did an apt-get install byobu and have 0 issues with it. I don't find it slow at all. I mean the RPI is not exactly fast to begin with, but I don't find byobu any more laggy than on my real *nix boxes.
