I am a little new at this but I am working on a project and was wondering how can I control a transistor with the GPIO based on the hour/minute of the day, and what hardware would you recommend for getting the time.

You could use a real-time clock or a light sensor of some kind to tell when to switch them on. The Pi has neither of these and so they would have to be added via the correct interface. I am a little new at this but I am working on a project and was wondering how I could correspond time and the GPIO. I am hoping to turn on lights corresponding with the time of the day. I was wondering how to go about that.

I would like to control 22 different transistors for a project with LED's and really want to use the pi for it. So I was wondering if I could use the pi alone, or with other things to connect the different transistors and use the pi for my project. P.S. Sorry if I am being very vague, I'm new at this.
