GPIO and time.

I am a little new at this but I am working on a project and was wondering how can I control a transistor with the GPIO based on the hour/minute of the day, and what hardware would you recommend for getting the time.

Re: GPIO and Time

You could use a real-time clock or a light sensor of some kind to tell when to switch them on. The Pi has neither of these and so they would have to be added via the correct interface. Have a look at this thread: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23949&p=222082&hilit=LDR#p22208...

GPIO and Time

I am a little new at this but I am working on a project and was wondering how I could correspond time and the GPIO. I am hoping to turn on lights corresponding with the time of the day. I was wondering how to go about that.

How many transistors can you use with the pi?

I would like to control 22 different transistors for a project with LED's and really want to use the pi for it. So I was wondering if I could use the pi alone, or with other things to connect the different transistors and use the pi for my project. P.S. Sorry if I am being very vague, I'm new at this.
