I personally prefer optos. I like having the isolation. I'd hate to damage an I/O with the back EMF of a relay coil. Opts work very well for picking relay coils.

Success! The Ativa Mobil IT 7 port powered USB hub can be added to the list of working peripherals. No USB cable modifications required...

Now on to figuring out how to get the Belkin N150 to work with the PI.
