Re: HELP! Defining user groups and/or permissions

Basically you have some users and a shared folder where they can "look but not change".

By default the group "others" has read access, and so you should have the system about setup OK.

See my link below for more info on file permissions.

Hi Tim I have done the "control the low power immersion from the invertor" and I put my scripts at http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=8345 Basically I use bluetooth to interrogate the invertor and if its over 1.5kw then switch on the 1kw immersion and get free hot water :) I use ...

Thanks.
Put the comands you want into /etc/rc.local and they will run on boot up.

Re: Increment environmental variables in bash script

Well I'm sure that the script has a lot of issues (as I said I'm a total noob to scripting/programming), and I will see how it behaves a true wi-fi drops, but here it is: #!/bin/bash ping -c 3 www.google.com > /dev/null 2>&1 if [ $? -ne 0 ] ; then date '+%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S Connection Unavailable' >>...

Re: Increment environmental variables in bash script

I thought about creating files as you say, but since I also use this a a scripting exercise I think that actually writing a value in a file (depending on the case) and reading the value from there is more... challenging :). I actually managed to do my script, now I just hope that I will have to res...

I have two, one is on all the time, and to get over the problem I have a cron job which reboots every day.

Maybe I should put the other one on and see how it goes ?

Re: Not enough Space on my SD card

Have you got a 4G card you can try it on? Why Because up to 4G is HD and over 4G is HDSD and some built in card readers are "just" SD, and not High Density. Maybe thats why the earlier versions "worked" as they dont understand HDSD ?

My conclusion is that its definately the wireless thats the issue but now I need a solution. Your wireless is on channel 8. This is not good if there are ANY other wireless about !!! Change the channel to either 1, 6 or 11. The ijuts who designed the 2.4 WiFi did not understand RF transmissions - a...

Beginners help is here ....

When I got my second Pi I thought I would make a few notes on what I did to install it. I hope this helps others. I installed the SD card with a new version of Rasbian using win32diskimager. This makes a FAT partition about 58M and a secondary Linux partition of about 2G. A Windows ( and Mac ? ) wil...

the line ... return_code = subprocess.call("curlftpfs -o allow_other " + ftpUser + ":" + ftpPass + "@" + ftpServer + " " + readFrom, shell=True) adds the value ftpServer and I think is "just" needs the server XXXXXXXXXXX.com , not ftp://XXXXXXXXXXX.com/files If not them I'm out of here as I'm on the...

Has the phone been paired from the Pi? I use BT to connect to my solar invertor. Re: Building a Repeater

I was nearly into HAM many years ago. When the Atari ST was new on the block!! :D Basically to have a repeater you will need to alter the perl to record when a transmission is sensed. When its stopped, then re-transmit the recorded message. To achieve this you will need to 1) wire up the speaker and...

Sometimes there is not enough power for some peripherals.

What does dmesg say ? Does the Pi see the netgear ?
