Re: Bash Programming—Using Headless Sudo

umm do it different mkdir ~/bin declare -x PATH="$PATH:~/bin" cp whatever ~/bin chmod +x ~/bin/whatever but be vary of running it more than once as you'll end up messing up PATH if ~/bin is already in $PATH then don't add it I'll leave that as an exercise to the reader* * if [[ $PATH != *~/bin/* ]];...

Re: sudo apt-get upgrade

sudo apt update
updates the files so :-
sudo apt upgrade -y
will work

just doing upgrade will not work by itself

&& < will only do the following command if the previous one succeeds

-y will upgrade with out asking you

Re: Copying to USB HDD is very slow

buffered reads is a red herring

Code: Select all

dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=524288 count=2048
will write 1GB to your device in a file called test
change test to point to your mounted drive
and give the results

rsync will give various results depending on what it there already etc..

Re: RPI4: Why is everything still 32-bit?

I have no idea why, but every time I attempt to use it, it breaks. It's probably something I'm doing, but I don't know what, and can't track it down because it's such a fundamental part of the system that when it breaks, nothing boots. It's also 'solving' an utterly non-problem for me: booting quic...

hdmi is output only if you want to get creative use hdmi to the camera input - but you need extra hardware for that this is all madness anyway you want low speed comms - just use the Ethernet - that will give you 1Gps you can get 2mbps out of the serial ports GPIO can give you various levels of spee...
