want to use soft pwm with gpio command

I'm driving a 12V LED strip as part of my home automation project. I have the hardware working and I can turn the LEDs off and on individually with the gpio command. (The hardware is trivial - it is just one of these LED strip amplifiers, connected directly to +5V and 3 GPIO pins: http://www.dx.com/...

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

... so I was quite relieved when I found those focusable lenses. Better quality optics too. I found one external lens that is both focusable and zoomable. You can swap it in directly for the screw-in lenses that come with the focusable units. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-8-12mm-M12-Manual-Zoom-Manual-...

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

... that was all we could find with a focusable lens. The standard Pi camera lens isn't focusable in the usual sense, but it can be focused by turning the lens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6VhRVH3Z6Y Once the glue is cracked it turns quite easily and smoothly. You can superglue a lever or disc...

Having just been given one of these devices, I'll add my name to the clamour asking for your final working code please!

_electric-hive-small.png hives-on-roof.png Sorry for the tiny picture - it appears to be the largest we can upload (64K limit). These are our hives on the University roof. One of them has a raspberry pi monitoring the entrance, which has a gateway attached that forces the bees to walk in, which slo...

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

Our beehive project needs a close-up lens so we've been using a NoIR clone until now, as that was all we could find with a focusable lens. Also we needed some physical separation so we've been using (successfully) a 75cm cable. But now we need better colour rendition, so we're moving to a regular ca...

Re: Volunteers to assist with this project: Honey Bee Counte

Just a quick idea. I've skimmed the thread and the first thought that came to mind was: why not put some kind of white board in front of the hive (if looks are not that important) where the camera is pointing. From what I see the area this board would have to cover is not that great so it would not...

Re: Official Touchscreen Display FAQ

Solved. Following Sherlock Holmes' dictum, having eliminated everything else, it was the impossible. Turned out to be a faulty dsi socket on the new Pi3 I was using. I got another Pi3 and it worked.

Re: Official Touchscreen Display FAQ

Could you help me debug a touchscreen problem please? I got the touchscreen at least a year ago, and got it working OK. Then I put it away and didn't touch it for the longest time. Now I have a use for it, I'm having a big problem getting it working. I initially tried powering it using the GPIO pins...

Re: Volunteers to assist with this project: Honey Bee Counte

when I said the code run real time last summer, it was for the very first version reading from a video stream and with downsampled images. When I actually ran it on my raspberry with the camera I got a huge frame drop. Since I do not have a beehive to get proper image feed I just updated the code t...

Re: GY-BMP280-3.3

if you find any other problem with the code (filter, oversampling and so on) please let me know :) Well, I don't know if this is due to the code or the hardware - I suspect more likely the hardware - but the air pressure is consistently about 4 millibars lower than the weather station indoor device...

Re: Volunteers to assist with this project: Honey Bee Counte

I've posted the initial hardware part of our project to http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Electric-Hive/ . A small update on our project... With help from some of the denizens of this site, we've worked out how to add air pressure and humidity sensors. (Both of these can measure temperature too, ...

i've seen this sort of error only with bad wirings to sensor joan would say "post a pic of your setup" since i got the same sensor you have, i will simply ask you if you have soldered correctly the pins :) You've probably nailed it - I was using clips on a breadboard. Re: GY-BMP280-3.3

Page 22 is 64-bit floating point. Page 45 is 32-bit floating point. Page 46 is 32-bit fixed integer. If I were writing code I'd start with the sample on page 45 (because reading 32bits on an I2C interface is easy and floating point maths is likely to give the most accurate results). I'd do it in C ...

What? Do you mean this one https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Python_BMP or this one https://github.com/cudacode/Python-BMP280 doesn't work? Correct - the first one is for the BMP180 and will almost certainly return wrong values, and the second one even says in the readme that it doesn't work. I ...

GY-BMP280-3.3

I want to hook up a GY-BMP280-3.3 pressure and temperature sensor, but I can't find a data sheet for this board and I don't have enough experience with sensors to just know automatically whether the Vcc input for boards like these defaults to 5V or 3.3V ... All the documentation I can find online is...
