Hi - here's where i was looking: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-4.9.y/arch/arm/boot/dts/bcm2708-rpi-0-w.dts I wonder if the pwr led could be defined, but with pin number etc as empty properties, with the required overrides. (I may not be using the correct terminology here). I can see ...
Yes, it seems your mini-HDMI plug needs to be about 8mm long to fully insert when in the new official case. The adapters that I've acquired in bundles have been universally 6mm long, so don't engage fully.
On the previous Zeros, I could create a pwr led by dtparam in config.txt. On the W, this is ignored. I'm needing a watchdog input to my circuit as early as possible in the boot process, and the kernel pwr led with heartbeat trigger was doing great, but this is not possible currently on the W. Could ...
Moving that resistor is not too difficult a job with the right tools ie soldering tweezers and microscope. That antenna track sticks out like a sore thumb, looks like a hand drawn smooth curve vs the rest of the board. Would it radiate if it had sharp corners rather than smooth curves? Is that why t...
Eben's opening speech I'm sure will appear online somewhere for all to view. I took away: 1. They're making a nice profit which they are feeding into their charitable division for education. 2. They've been able to hire a team of skilled engineers to create better hardware products than before. 3. S...
RF knowledgeable people: does a cavity antenna even need to cling to the edge of a board like other PCB antennae? I had the good fortune today to share a few words with Eben :) He said it works best on the edge of the board. It would work in the middle of the board, likewise the RF would find a way...
It might have been 1 or 4K from new, with sockets to populate it to 8K (the 2114s pictured there in the sockets are just so I don't lose them, shouldn't be there when operating). By the end of my modifications, it had 32K of CMOS RAM for main memory, and a 2MHz  65C02 sitting next to it. And ...
Seems we are living parallel lives Wolfie! My teenage obsession: http://i.imgur.com/C42BgQC.jpg Homebrew firmware held in CMOS RAM, battery backed. Seemed like a good idea at the time ;) but I think one of those DIP switches enables the EEPROM. Trouble is, I documented not a single thing :( These da...
Yes I appreciate the requirement for clearance from the ground plane, hence why it's the norm to have antennae on the edge of the board so there's nothing in front, with as much copper cleared around as feasible. But this cavity antenna seems to be a hole in the ground plane, hence why I wonder whet...
Yes WHH. The obvious looking place to put the ZeroW-style cavity antenna without shifting LEDs or connectors around is between the TRRS & USB sockets. RF knowledgeable people: does a cavity antenna even need to cling to the edge of a board like other PCB antennae?
Yes it is fruit, and I strongly suspect the same bug affected both. Now fixed cos I managed to grab Simon's attention here, rather than in my original post.
Ha! As penance for this heinous error, could you take a look at the tenuously related viewtopic.php?f=29&t=175675? (That's assuming that part of the UI is your work, forget it if not).
You can achieve that already: tether your Zero in gadget mode to a dinky TP-Link WR703 running OpenWRT. You'll gain network access through the WR703's WiFi or ethernet socket, your choice.
Hi Simon. When I upgraded Raspbian in anticipation of a shiny new ZW landing on my door mat, my taskbar went awol on connecting to a BT speaker. See https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=175979, now confirmed by one other user. I haven't had chance to reproduce on a new image/updat...
Maybe the device, or even your mobile, could be hacked/ run an app to break that 10GB tethering limit? Google might be your friend on that one, rather than these forums. Edited to add: I'd be surprised if they did cap the tethered usage to 10GB on these personal hotspot devices like the Verizon Jetp...
