CAS Education manual, Kindle edition

Hi all. This is a thread for the Kindle edition which will also likely produce an HTML version as well. If anyone would like to help test and proof-read this version, please post to this thread and I'll contact you when I've got far enough down the road. -- Mike Horne [email protected].co.uk www.recanth...

Re: CAS Educational Manual:how to contribute

Thanks for the files, Clive. The Kindle version is under way. Might take me a little while - a lot of the formatting needs to come out and be respecified. The good news is that when I'm finished I'll have an HTML version as well. :-)

Re: CAS Educational Manual:how to contribute

Suzume, I agree - access to the original source files is, I believe, the only way to contribute to this without corrupting the original idea and layout of the book. I also think that this would be the only way to reliably do other versions, such as HTML or Kindle versions, without introducing format...

Re: Create Custom Boot Logo

You can do this with something called 'fbi'.
I've blogged about it here:

Re: Composite video port

I really could do with the composite. I have a 5" screen with composite, so it's portable.

Oh... Jolly good. Nuts. Wonder if there's anything I can do about that myself?

Re: Composite video port

If I start the Pi with the HDMI connected, once it's started I can plug and unplug to be heart's content and it still shows a picture.
If I start it without the HDMI and _then_ plug it in, I don't get a picture (which I _believe_ is the expected behaviour).

Re: Composite video port

Oh, the Rev 2 works absolutely fine for everything else. The HDMI works for output, LEDs flashing away and it runs my latest project beautifully. It's just the composite port.

Re: Composite video port

The only thing I can see visually different is a slight discolouration on the solder of the pin nearest the edge of the board. I guess I'd call it yellowish/brownish? It's hardly more than a slight shadow, though.

Composite video port

Hi. I have two Pis: a Rev 1 and a Rev 2. Both 256mb versions. The Rev 2 board does not output on it's composite video port (or at least nothing displays when plugging a screen in). The Rev 1 board, with the same cable and same screen, does work. Obviously, I'd want both boards working, so I did a li...
