Depending where you are located you might consider Adafruit IO in the USA, Good basic tutorials and its free unless you upgrade to more feeds etc.

I got a unit from Amazon that can hold 5 pi 3's, actually with multiple kits you could add more. It has no side peices so ventelation is better. Yes I have a printout of your instructions here on my ext drive. I would like to get it to display graphs of my sensor network like Adafruit does. Any suggestions or shou;d I start a new thread on this?

Hi, there are also some decent tutorials at www.adafruit.com

They are listed in the Learn section then Raspberrypi. Different ones to command line and some simple automation of daily tasks, I highly recommend them.

I have used a Bitscope for years but not with the Raspi. I did dl the software for it but too lazy to get it out of my drawer to use it

. I do recommend Bitscope but its deffinately not the Techtonix scopes I used at work!

Yes my unsoldered sd card was replaced by Adafruit. They are very good about that sorta thing!

Not killed any but had a new Pi 3 with the sd card not soldered. So far stll keeping the magic smoke inside.

Not sure about this but I think you have to boot into GUI for VNC to work. Also make sure you have the right user name and password in the viewer software. Got caught on this myself.

This could all be wrong and I am sure someone will correct me!

I had no issues with running the Pixel version of Real vnc. Make sure you set up your network ssid and pass phrase. After that from command line type sudo vncserver :1

Works fine on Pixel and tightvnc on Jessie for me.

Probably a corrupted SD card or bad power supply ( not enough current). I just set up a brand new Raspi 3 today that had an unsoldered SD socket. Might want to take a close look at yours but I think my situation here is very rare.

You could add a powered USB 2 hub. You can find them many places in different numbers of ports.
