Well looks like I can just wire up either a Transient Voltage Suppresor Diode or a Varistor. Or both lol. I gotta look into how to wire them up more, but that might be the way to go. Maybe the attachment of a varistor is a good idea in any case, they seem to protect well and last quite long as long...
