Re: PI 3 stop working + black screen

Hi I would try a new SD card... I'm not an expert, but when I get kernel panic, it was always either an error into /etc/fstab which should be your problem if you didn't change it, either a problem with the sd card failing. If you alreay tried a fresh install and it did crash again, give it a try. If...

Re: Headerless Pi Zero W access

No need to dig around route -n if the adapter does not show up. It means it is not even recognized by the OS. Did you followed a complete guide for ethernet gadget ? I remember, depending on the host OS, you may need to install drivers. First search engine link: https://learn.adafruit.com/turning-yo...

Re: OpenVPN with PiHole

You post is quite old now :/. Did you managed to get it working ? I discorevered pi hole thanks to you, browsing unanswered posts =). I will surely get my hands on it these days. I passed a few hours/days troubleshooting VPN and routing issues with my PIs, if you did not solve your problem yet, I ma...

Re: Pi 3 B+ using ad-hoc wifi with WPA?

I had a hard time to trying to setup UP WPA2 on my pi, but finaly, I think you have too many options. I got some similar config but they were not working. The one I got now: network={ ssid="Mxxxxx" psk="passphrase" priority=1 id_str="home" } Other option may be set by the OS by itself if not specifi...

Re: Headerless Pi Zero W access

Does the pi show up as ethernet apdapter on your computer ? (sorry, never used MAC so I can't guide you for this :/).

I expect route to exist on MAC OS as it does on linux, so what "route -n" give you ?

Re: Internet connection problem

Hi, Sorry, I'm not an expert. Do you have a router on eth0 ? Or both your PI and computer have fixed IP ? If both have fixed IP you should probably remove these lines : static routers=192.168.1.1 static domain_name_servers=192.168.1.1 All the pi need is a static IP. If you do have a router on this s...

Re: Email not working - again

Hi,

First thing, does your pi have access to the Internet ?
Can you ping remote servers from it ? Such as google DNS 8.8.8.8 or outlook.com ?

[dirty SOLVED] Re: Apache fails to reach the Internet (curl, or whatever), name resolution error

The day after my last message, I face the same issue with my new setup... I had no other choice then to dig further... I used tcpdump to track DNS requests. I don't know why, but apache DNS requests are sent to lcoalhost (127.0.0.1) although all other (from command line) go to my LAN router as expec...

[abandon ship] Re: Apache fails to reach the Internet (curl, or whatever), name resolution error

I finally set up a fresh raspbian on my pi. For now everything got back to normal despite the fact that I kept the base of the OS read only. I don't know for now what caused these DNS resolution errors... I still got the SD card but I doubt I'll get back to it one day... Sorry for those who will fal...

Re: Apache fails to reach the Internet (curl, or whatever), name resolution error

Hi, Thanks for your answer, all network checked already, everything is working properly outside of apache. I can ping my local gateway, ping google DNS, DNS name resolution is done as expected from command line and php scripts run properly when ran from command line. I tried replace my FIA DNS by go...

Re: Apache fails to reach the Internet (curl, or whatever), name resolution error

Ok, sorry, I tried to give info on my setup but I obviously missed the most important. I'm on latest up to date raspbian stretch. I'll try this, I have a second PI (it's a PI-B instead of a PI-2B but I expect these to behave the same way, am I wrong ?). I was hoping someone would have spotted someth...

Re: Kernel 4.14.30+ and minidlna problem

I think that apt update/upgrade was updated today so you will now get a very recent version of the kernel. I believe it has all the latest fixes from upstream plus our local changes for the networking. So well worth a go if you don't want to use rpi-update. EDIT: apt update/upgrade will get you 4.1...

Re: Kernel 4.14.30+ and minidlna problem

Yep, fixed since .32 but if you want to solve this problem, you have to run rpi-udpate to get new kernel without apt-get, that's what you're saying right ?

I will finally give it a try, but I hoped to have information about "official" release of a new kernel.

Thanks for your help.

Apache fails to reach the Internet (curl, or whatever), name resolution error

Hi I set up my raspberry mostly read only using several tutorials I found here and there. The root FS is read only, and bits that require write such as mysql, tmp, run... are put on a separate USB HDD (ie: mysql) or on RAM FS (tmp, log, run...). Today it's working fine, I have a owncloud running (my...

Re: Kernel 4.14.30+ and minidlna problem

Hi, I have the same issue... CPU reaching 500% to 900%... At this point, I doubt this worth mentioning... I don't want to "risk" the rpi-update since I have my cloud running on the PI and I would rather stuck with a bugguy media center and keep my cloud operational. Does someone know when the fix wi...

Re: Troubles with INCBIN

Hi, I'm working on my rpi since past week. I've done the baking pi turorial from cambridge university, but I'm stuck at the screen03 lesson, which is supposed to display strings, but displays nothing, whereas the screen01 and screen02 work fine. By the way, screen04, input01/02 don't work either :cr...

Re: Qt5 raspbian - errors, errors and more errors :(

Hi, I get my RPi on june. I'm just starting to try to do something with the board, and i'm also looking for a way to get QT working on it. I tried to install QtCreator with apt-get, but I get an error when I build an example, an issue with qmake. I'm student in electronic, but I'm not really familia...
