Can't find bcm2835-v4l2

I have followed all the steps outlined in these posts, especially jbeale's nice summary, on a stock NOOBS+Raspbian with all updates installed. Apart from libreoffice there are no other special packages on this system. The whole compilation & install process yields no errors ... modprobe bcm2835-v4l2...

PiVid: start YouTube videos from the browser

Hello all, we have released a package, called pivid, which allows you to start YouTube (and some HTML5) videos from Midori or Chromium. The package is in our repository server, easy to install. It is currently in a beta stadium, some things still need fixing. Please have a look at my blog post about...

Re: 1080p Resolution but Text is Blurry!

Thank you! The hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080 did the trick for me on an ASUS Full-HD display. The display is connected via HDMI. It also had trouble activating the sound, these lines will enable everything at FullHD res: hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080 disable_overscan=1 framebuffer_width=1920 framebuffer...

quick hint to save you loads of time

I had been struggling for a very long time, trying to get IPv6 (as a router for the home network) working. I'll sum up the necessary building blocks in my blog post over time: http://blog.pi3g.com/2013/07/ipv6-setup/ Just a quick hint to some who may also be hitting a wall: If your other (networked)...

Re: wayland-weston launch

Correctly - to run under Weston / Wayland, X applications need an extension for Wayland, the XWayland server. This extension is not ready / released to the broad public yet. This XWayland server is a special version of an X Server which ties in with Wayland (it is a client to Wayland, and a server f...

Re: TP-Link TL-WN725N V2 works out of the box on Raspbian

I guess you can tell the difference between v1 and v2 based on the text on the USB adapter. The v1 adapter has the text "8853A-WN725N" written on the USB metal. The v2 adapter has the text "TL-WN725N 122TE1". Not correct - I have both adapter versions, and both have the same text "IC: 8853A-WN725N"...

Re: SD card sticking out ? Use RSMMC

For the lead to connect an external SD adapter: You would have to take into account that timing is critical on high-speed data applications. I had a customer exchange a (mechanically) broken SD slot with a new one I obtained for him on the Raspberry Pi, and it stopped booting from it - maybe somethi...

Re: Reverse Proxy

Hi, you're right. A reverse proxy sits between a webserver and the webbrowser and is transparent to it. (i.e. the webbrowser thinks it is talking to a webserver directly). Reverse proxies can be used in manifold ways. Often they are used to accelerate websites or do loadbalancing between several bac...
