Re: Don't want Raspian Buster!

Hi all! So, with the release of Raspian Buster, I thought I would give it a go with the raspberry pi 3B+ (Don't have a Pi 4 yet). I installed with noobs, as I like the dual boot feature, and rebooted. I chose desktop with recommended applications to start with, and then I ran into a wall I ran into...

Re: SanDisk A2 mode support - worthless, waste of money

You are absolutely correct. It seems A2 is only the marketing unfortunately. Even 170MB/s reading performance for SanDisk Extreme Pro seems like tweak of official standards, nothing else. I would propose little more $$ for eMMC in next + version. :-) Why? SD cards work fine. (and eMMC is a similar ...

Hello everyone, with latest update youtube now good 1080p. but it seems horizontal lines middle of the screen when fast moving. It can be remove in future updates? I think that's enough use case analysis/trolling accusations on this one. To answer the OP, you are correct, it's not a big deal. It's been made out as a big deal by some people, but we believe they are wrong. It will be fixed in a board revision, in the meantime, if you feel that you do not wish to...

Thanks Confused. Are you saying it works with the SD card in, but not with it out? That's entirely correct behav...

I don't think there is full kms for the rpi4 yet. Try going to raspi-config and setting it to fake kms.
Correct. Although the difference is simply that the firmware drives the final composition in Fake KMS, whereas it would be driven by the ARM in full KMS. Performance is approximately the same.

The VC6 supports OpenGLES 3.0, therefore it should be able to do WebGL2.0.

This seems to indicate it does
https://get.webgl.org/webgl2/
See the post above where the specifics of what is accelerated is actually right in front of you. WebGL2 is one of them.

I really hate the speculation threads about ideas for the next Pi model, but I just had a thought after reading another thread and thought it might be interesting. Re: I didn't think the usb c power thing was a big deal...

There are people here which can hardly afford to buy a Pi. Is that because they've spent their money on overpriced premium computer systems? Those on a budget probably don't have the expensive (currently incompatible) e-marked cables in the first place. Anyone who can afford e-marked cables and the...

Here's an independent site talking about the USB_C issue, and how much of a problem it isn't. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1500305#p1500305https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1500305#p1500305tml Wrong link? Indeed - C&P error. Have fixed in original post.

If the cursor was in the normal state and then transitioned to the animated "loading" state, there would be one or two frames when the cursor has been offset to accommodate the loading state, but the cursor still appears as the normal state. I caught this phenomenon on video: https://s3.gifyu.com/i...

Re: When are people in the U.S. getting their Pi 4s?

We have some machines in the server room with 128GB RAM IIRC, might be more. And some software uses it all....

But they are not desktops. As I said, in our testing, using Chromium for standard browser tasks, we rarely got over 2GB.

Re: PI4 USB Boot

I'm very surprised that this hasn't been included on Pi 4 - USB boot is a critical feature because SD Cards are so stupidly fragile - a single power supply interrupt can completely destroy a card. "Just" adding an 8 GB micro SD Card for a 5 kb file seems a bit obscene. Given the fact we cannot make...

Having lived the original Pi Model B with the polyfuses causing USB power issues and the OTG-based host port on the SoC causing lots of USB software issues....I'm very disappointed that the Pi 4 was designed in a way that violates the USB-C specification. Re: Pi 4 - full specification of VideoCore 6

I asked around, and most of the above calcs look good, BUT it should be noted that the VC4 GPU was run at 300Mhz for the majority of 3D operations, not 400Mhz. So actually, the move is from 300 to 500, not 400 to 500. There's also a lot of tweaks over the entire system - the original VC4 GPU is not ...

The fix for USB-C power cables will probably take a month or two or three to flush through the system - need to use up stocks of existing PCB's. so there will be a hardware fix for this issue? Will the foundation grant FOC power supplies to those of use affected by this design flaw? No! Why on eart...
