Re: RPI Imager breaks my first SD card, then states the 2nd can't be verified

It's perhaps a problem with the SD card port on the laptop. Built in ones are notorious. I was having very similar problems recently but with a USB->SD card adaptor. Worked in the laptop, not in the laptop dock - verification failures. So they can be weird. Changed the SD card, the micro SD adaptor....

HQ camera, attached to rpi3+ I was not expecting the software to behave differently with a different camera. I would not expect the preview to start until after the module had stabilised, so here goes with 1s preview. pi@camera:~ $ date; raspistill -t 1000 -o a.jpg; date Thu 25 Jun 21:21:56 BST 202...

Re: No Raspberry Pi imager for Raspberry Pi

BTW I had similar question only a few days ago (but I'm fine to use dd from command line). Anyway - is it worth adding line somewhere on https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ just to avoid further confusion? Re support for ARM: it all boils down to what is really needed. I've sorted out all my can...

Re: What proportion of new RP uses need to initially ask Qs...

There was some compiling and porting involved I was not comfortable with. I used to do it, prefer not to anymore. I must be getting old. Not a beginners task then!! Our main concern is making sure beginners are not flummoxed at the first step. Anyone who has a need to recompile code or port to a ne...

jamesh, the documentation for that project is not great. Wiring diagrams are messy and unlabelled.
Will pass on to Foundation side. Unfortunately the guy who ran that project has left to join ESA!

Re: What proportion of new RP uses need to initially ask Qs...

I was one of the many early adopters of the Rpi 4, bought it on day one. I got another SBC from hardkernel as well(N2) at the same time with some unfortunate occurrences with them. Without any previous experience on the Arm64 SBC world, I had some initial bumps with my RPi 4. I admit running into s...

Re: Wish list for Raspberry Pi 5

We don't do wish lists here, they always end in pain. Odd how many first posters think they know better than the company that's sold 32 million devices.

But briefly,.

1. No.
2. No.
3. No.
4. In beta
5. No.

Re: Help Appreciated! - Weather Station - Received NO Help!

Your post has been up for one day! Patience is required, especially on a forum mostly run by volunteers. There's a few RPF(T) people on here, but none who know anything about weather stations.

If you get no responses, it almost certainly means that no-one knows how to help you.

Have just deleted some posts. It seems that the original hint (deleting a post that was unacceptable) wasn't obvious enough.

Re: Can't we just skip chromium 80 and go straight to 84?

What has Google got to do with anything, it is open source chromium-browser, not Google Chrome Browser.... Aren't Google still developers in the Chromium project and/or some of it dependencies? I would find it hard to believe that Google aren't at least influencers in Chromium. Open-source doesn't ...

Re: No Raspberry Pi imager for Raspberry Pi

I was wondering why there is a Raspberry Pi Imager for Windows, MAC, and Ubuntu but not for Raspberry Pi. I have been contemplating switching my desktop to Raspberry Pi 4 but there really is very little support for ARM processors. Any thoughts? There's loads of support for ARM. There are over 25000...

Last I checked the 8GB model is $80+ delivered. Let's split the difference and call it a $55 computer. Well that's just daft. We sell a range of computers, You can get the Zero for $5, the ZeroW for $10, the ZeroWH for $14, the A+ for $20 or so, the 4B2 for $35, the 4B4 for $55, the 4B8 for $75. Yo...

Your -t value is too small, you are not giving the system enough time go stabilise. Use 1000 or so.

Re: gpu_fft for RPi4?

One of the reasons for my original question was for an SDR application called RTLSDR-Airband. It currently depends on gpu_fft, which means it will only work on Raspberry Pi model prior to RPi4. I am trying to see how else to get this functionality. I would rather avoid the CPU for FFT, since this w...

Re: Raspberry Pi integrated storage

Are there any plans to make the Raspberry Pi, (or at least the newer/newest models), have integrated storage, instead of a micro SD card? I'm not an expert on hardware, but I'd think the fact that you can get a 64G USB flash drive for around $10ish would mean that it wouldn't be crazy to make the P...

If statistics say that in 16GB of ram you should expect one bit flip every hours, then every single 16GB machine out there would be failing, frequently, including the one I am typing this one They are not. So that statistic sounds wrong.

Its a pretty impossdible thing to know. Assume we have sold over 32 MILLION Pi's. But we have no idea of how many are to repeat buyers, let's say a quarter are unique users. that's 8M. There are 300k registered users on this forum, of whom perhaps 15% have an actual problem rather than needing advic...

Try reducing the resolution you are asking from the webcam. I have no idea how you can do that, probably something in the videoconferencing SW somewhere.
