You and me both. I am waiting until I know that RISC OS runs on the RPi 4B before I order one.
Progress has been good apparently, still a way to go.

Re: Buster can't play MPG2?

Kodi support is alive and well, one of our team at Pi Towers is a Kodi dev. The version Buster is a bit old - currently the best Kodi option is LibreELEC. As for VLC, we have some fixes for it to come out in the near future that should greatly improve things. The move to the more standard DRM/KMS ba...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 usb boot?

Nonsense. No, absolutely true - you've just been lucky! For goodness sake, stop this concern trolling. You are wrong. Loads of people are USB booting their Pi models using an SD card, and it works fine. They haven't been 'lucky'. If 99 people out of 100 have something that works - are they a...

Thanks! I know of a company that released a product with an FCC printed on it, but it took another year to publish the final certificates for it :| Keeping fingers crossed that everything works better for the Pi :) I've just had three more so will add those to the website today. I get a fairly cons...

Thanks Jamesh. On 1280 x 1024 screen I got up to 27fps :D This stress test has passed. It's not 60fps but it is enough to now add "learn to code WebGL" to my list of things to do. Going to be interesting to see what Sakaki can do with her Gentoo64. It always ran WebGL faster than Raspbian on the Pi...

Re: RISC OS Pi?

It seems that RISC OS on the Raspberry Pi is getting less attention here than it used to. Not long ago RISC OS was about second in what people talked about for an OS on the Raspberry Pi on these forums, first always being Raspbian GNU/Linux. In 20111/2012 there were statements by people representin...

Re: When are people in the U.S. getting their Pi 4s?

So what's the deal with Newark/Element14? As I understand it, Newark/Element14 are sellers for Premier Farnell, who is the distributor for the Raspberry Pi computers made by Sony UK, who is one of the 2 major manufacturers of the non-Zero models (which would include the Pi4). So you'd think that if...

Think I was getting 18, but depends greatly on resolution.
Will check tonight but 18 is very good. :D
I have only been getting 1fps, time to do a raspi-update.
Canvas size 1024x1024, in a window on 1200p display, 500 fish, 21-22 fps.

Full screen (1920x1200), 17-20fps

I am going to make a bold statement in regards to the PI4B 1gig,2,4 models. I think there is more going on then just a ram chip swap... I originally bou...

If this article is true (and it seems to be confirmed by Raspberry) you might want to consider an early purchase of the Pi 4: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/07/raspberry-pi-4-uses-incorrect-usb-c-design-wont-work-with-some-chargers/ :o :o Why? That quite the leap of imagination to say its the Pi product managers with the problem. Could be anywhere in the supply chain. I would have said inexpensive instead of cheap ;) . I bought what I know works and was tested to work on a Pi 4, like the official one was. Not all that hard to do.
Inexpensive is a much better word!

Great! Can you please be more specific about the section of the file I should modify? I searched for that string and couldn't find anything. What line number would it be in a stock Chromium install on Buster?
I don't have the exact recipe handy, Google might find it.

No OTP on the new SOC? Yes, there is OTP in the 2711, used for serial numbers etc. But because it's one time, it's not the best place for something like USB boot flagging, where you may want to turn it off. Sure, for customer provisionable things. Would it be naive on my part to hope that a few byt...

It's fixed. If you are happy using prerelease firmware, do an `sudo rpi-update` then re-enable the GPU acceleration by editing the /usr/bin/chromium-browser file and look for the FKMS section and remove the disabling stuff.
