There has never been a digital audio port. The guy in the video mistakenly said the composite video port was digital audio.

vga kvm's are dirt cheap, unfortunately we don't have that option.

A quick search of amazon showed a dvi kvm costs at the minimum $60 usd so it doesn't look like you'll find a cheap solution unless you find a sale.

Hmm, now that I think about it, it was my tv that had the limitation of disabling external input when hdmi was connected. So you're probably right about the audio out on the raspi..
