Re: Re-compile android app for Rasberry pi?

I've tried and succeeded in porting LibGDX ( http://libgdx.badlogicgames.com/index.html ) app to RPi. That framework is mainly for 2D and 3D games across the platforms (Windows/Linux/OSX/Android/iOS/HTML5) but can be used for 'serious apps' (see here: https://github.com/natdan/gcode-preview 3D print...

Re: Desktop Eclipse integration with RPi?

:) I'm glad to be of help... Strangely enough - after months of doing something else, last three weeks I am using remotevm tool myself again - making some 3d printer toolset software in java. And it just works! I'm going to look at Windows paths (and spaces) and bump version to 1.0! And move source ...

Re: Desktop Eclipse integration with RPi?

"suspend=y," is the key. If you omit '--remote-debug-suspend' then it will be 'suspend=n' which means app will start immediately without waiting for you to attach to it for debugging. Anyway - remotevm doesn't do anything debugging wise - it just passes parameters to remote vm for it to listen to po...

For exact purpose I designed this: http://remotevm.abstracthorizon.org/ As it goes for integration with Eclipse it is explained here: http://remotevm.abstracthorizon.org/eclipse-tutorial.html . All I do is write code on my laptop in Eclipse, press run button and see result running on RPi in real tim...

Check this: http://remotevm.abstracthorizon.org/ - very close to rsync and can be seamlessly integrated to your IDE of choice... Let me know if you need to set it up.

Why don't you use comfort of a PC or Laptop and Eclipse on it to develop with RPi? There are a few posts about it here. My preferable way is described here http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=495190#p495190 but you can go with http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=7166...

Re: using pi4j inside JSP fails

Could you post what is in tomcat log as it said:

Code: Select all

note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/7.0.28 logs.
and what files you have in WEB-INF/lib.

Key to fix it is in those two places!

Re: Does Pi4J Support All Pins on Model B+?

Until Robert answers, I'll try to fill in the gap: I think not. At least at the moment. It should and hopefully it will (if nothing else I'll get my hands on B+ model and see what I can do about it). Pi4j is based on Wiring Pi and Wiring Pi has been updated already so there shouldn't be any issues p...

Re: JArduino

Hi, I am a bit confused what JArduino really is. Is it something that converts Java to C and then compiles it for AVR processors? Or is it JVM that runs in AVR and interprets bytecode? And last question is - do you plan to make RPi port of libraries available for JArduino - AVR version? So all the c...

Re: ANNOUNCE: OpenJDK project for Device I/O

Spot on! Lower level, generic API for access to device I/O (and other hardware) + implementations (pi4j & lejos, but also HaikuVM and similar) are really good combination. If done properly, richer, higher level device definition/implementation can be, then, delivered seamlessly across the platforms!...

Re: Pi4J with I/O expander, pin.getState() starts null

OK. So far I cannot see how initial state of the pin can be read from this 'device'. I might be wrong (it would be nice to hear from author of the code - Mr Savage), but what I gather from the implementation is as following: in a 'monitor' thread it polls state of interrupt registers (every 50ms) an...

Re: Pi4J with I/O expander, pin.getState() starts null

Hi Peter, I just checked the code behind MCP23017GpioProvider and got entangled in the web of pins/pin providers, etc... It looks like that you've getting back null because of what GpioStateMonitor (extends Thread) does (or doesn't do if not configured properly). It is in the source code for MCP2301...

Re: Python or Java?

I am very Java biased and used it for more than 15 years now. I would say that you need to predict how complex your program is going to be and decide on that. Simple things that tend not to evolve and do not need complexity of JVM would probably be far better done as simple Python scripts. If you ca...

Re: Remote development on RPi

From what I can gather from the stack trace, it seems that you're trying to run the example on your PC. In Eclipse run (launch) configuration, you should put "org.ah.java.remotevmlauncher.client.LaunchRemote" for MainClass on the first tab (not org.ah.remotevm.tutorial.GpioExample) and on Arguments ...
