Re: Can't connect to VPN server running on R-PI

How far are you with the PPTP VPN? Did you follow the directions of LetHopeItsSnowing and set the GRE on your router? And did you enable the #debug so you can provide us with some extra log information? You are not installing OpenVPN as far as I can see, so you shouldn't use the OpenVPN client :) Th...

Re: using logrotate and ramlog

I also like the Vino Nobile de Montepulciano! But thats offtopic. Ramlog won't start. At one point I noticed the RAM disc using the "df -h" command but that's also not there anymore. Guess there is something wrong in the 'ramlog' file... My /etc/init.d/ramlog file: ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: ra...

Re: Can't connect to VPN server running on R-PI

If you don't get PPTPd to work, you probably shouldn't start with OpenVPN because it's more complicated. Are you trying to VPN to the Pi on the local network? Do so to exclude possible ISP/Router/Firewall limitations. I've used this manual to setup my PPTPd: http://wellsb.com/post/29412820494/raspbe...

Re: Backup SD

This looks clear but I wonder what the right 'dev' is because if I do a 'df' command or I list the /dev contents, there are loads of things in there. My goal is to have a 'ready-to-write' image of the SD card so I can recover/copy the whole Pi in a couple of minutes. root@raspberrypi:/dev# ls autofs...

Re: Vpn issues

You may want to check some configs :) /etc/pptpd.conf Something like (depending on your local network settings): localip 192.168.0.1 (IP of your Pi) remoteip 192.168.0.234-238,192.168.0.245 Make sure you have this here: /etc/ppp/pptpd-options ms-dns 192.168.1.1 (your local Gateway or Router IP) nobs...

Re: Vpn issues

Do you want to relay your internet connection or do you just want access to your home network?

My Mac has a setting to relay all traffic over the VPN network, the relaying is a client thing.

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi all, My name is Thijs and I primarily use my Raspberry Pi's to take over the world. Obviously. Currently running are OpenVPN and a TOR Relay server. I will also run a TimeMachine service for the backups of my Macs, CryptoCat for a safer world, maybe a Torrent client and a network intrusion detect...

Re: VPN, access from outside... Network through crossover wi

There are a lot of VPN tutorials for the RPi out there.

You could try OpenVPN because it's safe:

Great tutorial, used it and got the whole relay working within the hour.

To all: make sure to doublecheck the bandwith settings.

OpenVPN tutorial

This tutorial is based on the Raspberry Pi version B (thanks for the extra memory!) loaded with "2012-09-18-wheezy-raspbian". I've used this tutorial for Debian 6 and Debian 7 as well, on my VPS or in Virtual Machines, it seems to be kind of 'one size fits all'. So if you use Jessie, you may want to...
