Re: Programming a 2D game. Software suggestions anyone?

openVG is also possible, it just depends on your interests and abilities.

http://www.peepo.co.uk hosts and links to quite a number of SVG games,
i suppose would translate to openVG with little effort.

Re: Shaders as parallel processor?

Jim, great response, thanks! speed and accuracy aren't criteria for helping understand parallel processing on GPU, as it were.. though my interest was sparked by the amazing speed.... i'm going to be looking further into this shortly, afaict. so links to any simple demos or further explanations appr...

Re: Programming a 2D game. Software suggestions anyone?

for openGLES 2.0 on RPi you may like https://github.com/peepo/openGL-RPi-tutorial

its a way to gaming, and if you are thinking camera in game....

let me know if you do go this route, as most of the openGL guff is 3d and I'm also more interested in 2d just now

Shaders as parallel processor?

does anyone have a link to a great openGL shaders tutorial? I'm particularly interested in examples that are not graphical, ie 'maths' side taken slowly... iiuc the gpu can be used as a parallel processor for maths solutions. a link I have yet to investigate fully: http://www.sunsetlakesoftware.com/...

pi3d

If anyone has tried pi3d and can help describe, or point to resources please comment so after a very quick look... I did not find a step through guide to ordering the demos. this is vital, if one is to roll your own. the license is very different to https://github.com/peepo/openGL-RPi-tutorial pi3d ...

Jim,

a generous offer, which I'm already looking forward to trying...

pi3d looks fantastic, but never turned up in any of my searches?
I will set time aside to try it!.

Re: openGLES 2.0 on RPi tutorial

Jim, I fully agree with your sentiment. my self-set task was to produce reduced test cases, ie remove as much redundant code as possible. as I state in the readme I failed miserably. the tutorials to use are http://www.opengl-tutorial.org/ this has introductions to C, cmake, openGL etc... it is desi...

Re: openGLES 2.0 on RPi tutorial

Paeryn,

classic once again thank so much!

pretty sure I do not quite understand:
"either the whole scene again, or just draw the render_texture a fourth time."

however have some content on screen, which is a small benefit

Re: openGLES 2.0 on RPi tutorial

well panik, thanks for the GLM heads up... had you taken a look at the remaining tutorials 7-18 http://www.opengl-tutorial.org/ as they would be appreciated by some, but also there's an issue as to why the instructions are using userland and include. I've just made a rough build, now it needs some h...

Re: openGLES 2.0 on RPi tutorial

re GLM, GLM is used for some heavy matrix manipulation in these tutorials: tutorial05_textured_cube tutorial03_matrices/ not sure of your interests, but the remaining tutorials 7-18 http://www.opengl-tutorial.org/ prolly rely on GLM so imagine it would be needed? could you please check into this? hi...

Re: openGLES 2.0 on RPi tutorial

okay!

have updated README.md

basically my previous post was confused and confusing..

userland needs to be moved to /opt/vc

I also added instructions for running first tutorial, to get started

many thanks for your patience.

build on clean SD card seems fine afaict.

Re: openGLES 2.0 on RPi tutorial

re mmal

when you ran userland buildme
did it create a directory
~/src/raspberrypi/userland/
in your home directory?
if so is
~/src/raspberrypi/userland/interface/mmal/
there?

if so, have to think again...

Re: openGLES 2.0 on RPi tutorial

many thanks for your reports, once again...

iirc the final step is to copy
/opt/vc/include/interface/vcos/pthreads/vcos_platform_types.h
to
/opt/vc/include/interface/vcos/vcos_platform_types.h

I never found a reason why this is necessary, but it does work..

Re: HDL? FPGA? why LOGiPi @ kickstarter?

I'm interested in the LogiPi with LogiCam, the camera board & sensor appear similar to raspicam, but the demo quality seems poor? is there something similar for the GPU? no idea what it might be called... why is LOGiPi FPGA such a huge success at kickstarter? or perhaps 800+ is not so many? tx for t...
