Re: Pure Python camera interface

On trying the picamera advanced recipe '5.7. Recording motion vector data' found at http://picamera.readthedocs.org/en/release-1.7/recipes2.html a file is made but the motion data extracted from that file cannot be fitted into a three-dimensional numpy array. The line motion_data = motion_data.resha...

Re: Blob extractor for motion detection

I've been experimenting with changes to the executable 'motion.start' and notice that if I slow the framerate, e.g. by including '--framerate 7', the displayed picture shows with 2 sets of motion vectors (macroblocks) visible. I had only expected to see just 1 set of motion vectors. I mention this j...

Yes; shown is the larger of the two there. Due to the low hills here it's probably the most easy to cycle by.

Re: viewing camera feed on raspberry pi

You need to 'build' the binary file you are trying to run. Do the following pushd /opt/vc/src/hello_pi/hello_video make popd And try again. I'm having the same problem as desmondttm123 so I tried the suggestion by jamesh. I had to add a / to the end of jamesh's first line before the pushd command w...

Re: RPi to record & evidence noise levels

This should be easy to do with a Pi I would have thought. Use a webcam from which sound can be recorded on the pi. If you make the pi examine the audio stream for levels, that could be made to trigger recordings of picture, sound and/or timing data. You may get some ideas on how useful this is from...

Re: Boot without monitor

The pi will boot up without a monitor; it just needs the 5v power to be applied. A script placed in /etc/init.d/ can then be run at the end of the boot process. To shut down the pi, you can have a running script monitor a pushbutton connecting two gpio pins. I use this arrangement on a pi serving as...

Some possibilities for using VSYNC are discussed here:

But it would seem that hardware and software mods are needed.

Re: Telecine with an old super8 proiector and raspberry pi

To avoid flicker or strobing, and to keep motion smooth, the recorded frame rate must be synchronised with the projector shutter. I use a photodiode to sense the projector shutter. My projector shutter has 3 blades, so there should be 3 x18 = 54 or 3 x 16 = 48 shutter pulses per second. Synchronisin...

@6by9 Thank you for quickly answering my post. Sorry to have taken you back over old ground; it was due to my lack of knowledge. Re: Official V4L2 driver

Knowing which format is believed to be at fault would help us track down any actual issue. Blue and red are reversed on raspberrypi 3.10.25+ when using python-opencv installed with apt-get. The report from v4l2-ctl says: Format Video Capture: Pixel Format:'BGR3' I don't find any control in cv2.Vide...

hmmm...shall i use ADC(mcp3008) their?? An analogue video signal has a rapidly changing voltage value. The mcp3008 has a maximum sample rate of 200 k/s. A standard definition video signal must be sampled at a sample rate of about 10 M/s. That is why the suggestions are to use a video digitizer. If ...
