Re: Another great tiny cheap computer
Having seen the other stuff that HomoFaciens has done, I suspect that he has made a sentient Pibot to nanoweld the case around itself, ship-in-a-bottle stylee.

Re: Ignoring Subforums
There isn't, sorry. (I agree that the "active topics" search isn't that useful on large forums as even limiting results to 1 day using the drop down at the bottom of the page still returns a few hundred...)

What are you planning to do with it? people are much more likely to get on board if you inspire them and have some concrete projects in mind or even something completely mad to do with it

Re: Help ! I hate soldering.
Let's put home/amateur use into perspective: driving down to Maplins to buy lead-free solder will probably release a lot more (and varied) heavy metals into the biosphere than you would have caused by using the solder that you have in your shed drawer. This is a hunch, but if anyone has any figures ...

That is a lot! You could build 25 ephemeral equestrian stadia with that and still have 10 million quid left over to buy two or three horses.alexchamberlain wrote:Yeah, but it cost $2.5 billion to land something on another planet.

Re: downloading Win32DiskImager
where did you get it from? (site / link) It shouldn't do this (doesn't do this). One of the good things about win32diskimager is that it is a standalone .exe with no install and no other third party rubbish - I suspect you've clicked on something else by accident.

welcome to the fourms sakai4eva. The XBMC install is definitely the way to go for a beginner. It really is as simple as worm says, you can have XBMC running with no knowledge at all of Linux. bredman's suggestion of MagPi is excellent . Issue one is worth a read before you start anything - it shows ...

Unfortunately, yours is another example of how suppliers wash their hands of responsibility. It is this attitude that is very frustrating for end users. No - it's an example of how English contract law works. If you ordered a TV from Sainsburys and it didn't arrive, no reasonable person would feel ...

Re: My wooden case
I love: the cost :) ; the organic, hand-made vibe ; the use of Sketchup. A really nice case. (Personally I would be paranoid that the grilles may get pushed through one of the slots and contact the Pi so I would leave them out (or replace with non-conductive mesh). But that's just me ;) ) [edit - on...
