Re: How to debug Bus Error

Updating Qt to 5.14 from 5.12.5.
How & Where ? Also cross compilation ?

The "unaligned" exception in kernel point my gut feeling towards compiler/compiler-flags problems. ( maybe missing : -mno-unaligned-access )

Is the problem that "cgps -s" just show a snapshot of the position and then exits... or is the problem that you want to run it automatically on boot ?
... or both ?

Re: how to build an customized image file to be installed?

Yes, there is several ways of loop-mounting images to get access to the file system.

Is see somenone made a few scripts to help with this: viewtopic.php?t=247568

Or you can read about the "kpartx" command which I use a lot.

All I really need is a smart playlist function
I'm not completely sure what you put in that definition of "smart playlist"

I would probably test vlc or cvlc ( command line version of VLC ) first.

Without possibly writing some very specific software i think hardware duplication the only guaranteed solution that is close to what you describe.

Re: Retropie 4.6 image gives FAT rather than FAT32 boot partition

Should I be concerned about this or am I missing something? I see no reason to be concerned, if the RetroPie people choose to make their image that way, so be it. You shouldnt need to mess with that partition anyway, and you will of course make backup to all the other files so you can reinstall the...

Why do you want to crosscompile ?
What is wrong with the Qt5 that is part of RaspberryPi OS Buster ?

Re: Tethering a Samsung S8 to Pi4

- Configure the phone to use tethering via USB.
- then connect it to the Pi.
- run the command "ip addr" in a terminal.

If you see a network interface called "usb0" then that is your phone.
If you post the output related to that interface we might be able to help you further.

Re: Can you use an internal hard disk drive with raspberry pi 4b?

There is no SATA interface on a Pi.
So you would still have to add a USB(3) to SATA adaptor making it identical to most external drives.

Also there is a difference in power usage between normal spinning disks and SSDs, but the safest is to make sure they have their own power.

Re: Show something on screen while ssh

Also a point that unless anything else is mentioned, we will always assume that the installed OS is Raspbian/RaspberryPi OS. And if you install the "lite" version there is no X-server / desktop installed. ( but then firefox probably wouldnt be installed either ) Usually the standard "pi" user (or an...

Then I guess you should talk to the person that owns the Raspberry.
Your case is a bit special so its hard to come with a simple solution.

Re: Show something on screen while ssh

Is the Pi configured to start/login to the desktop automatically ?
If yes: Which user is then logged in on that desktop ?

I think your problem is that you are not logged in as user "pi" over SSH if that is the user logged in on the desktop.

Re: How to configure Pi zero as a RS485 slave device?

Is it possible to use interrupt? Maybe, but probably not necessary nor recommended. My recommendation would be to use multi-threading/semaphores. Having one thread just waiting for input on the serial port, this thread will then signal the video processing thread when it receives the request with c...

Re: Show something on screen while ssh

Well both MobaXterm and using "ssh -X" means that you are forwarding the X protocol to your own computer so all GUI programs will open there. Using the command "export DISPLAY=:0.0" will override, and any GUI programs you launch after that should open on the local X-desktop. Also using the option "-...

Re: Updating/Upgrading my Pi

Those answers depends on which model of Raspberry Pi you bought back in 2016 and which model you want to upgrade to. Most likely you will need a better power adapter, if the SD card is a uSD of size 16GB or more you can just rewrite that with an updated OS. ( after backing up any files you want to k...

Re: Does pi4 support ubuntu18.04(arm64)??

but it seems that pi4 dosen't support ubuntu 18.04 anymore?
Has it worked before on 1/2/4GB models ?
I would say that 18.04 never received any support for Raspberry Pi 4 8GB version.
