Looking at the thread you posted link to, compiling form source seems quite easy and could have been done in the time this thread has been alive.

Re: Using gps module for project

2.2 inches doesn't feel like a good match for a full desktop, do you want to keep the desktop on the HDMi and use the screen seperatly. Until you actually have decided exactly how you want to use that screen I don't feel that suggesting a method for autostart makes sense. If you link us to a page ab...

Re: Missing .deb package? Mupen64Plus

Looking at the original debian packages we see that these do not have an ARM version. https://packages.debian.org/buster/mupen64plus-ui-console I think that is why there are no version in standard Raspbian/Raspberry PI OS. Also from the homepage of mupen64plus: Included are four MIPS R4300 CPU emula...

Re: Using gps module for project

In other words, I would like the gps to run automatically run on start up. Maybe someone else has done something like this, and I can mold it for my situation, I just couldn't find a good link (although I probably could have looked a bit harder). How your Pi set up ? Does it automatically boot to d...

Re: 16GB usb is mount but don't see it in "df"?

You forgot the single command that would have given you the truth "mount". Also "df -h /mnt/mydisk/4/" will tell you which filesystem this path belongs to. You have to create a folder before you can mount something to that name/path. But that also means it will behave like any other folder if nothin...

Re: How to manually install Ubuntu Server?

Is there a possibility to install Ubuntu Server manually.
That may depend on what you mean by "manually".

I dont think you can do it similar to what you would do on a PC: insert usb-stick with ubuntu-installer and install on a HDD (SD) )

Re: GPS NEO-6M GY-NEO6MV2 records missing?

You can send commands to the GPS to select which records that will be sent. To find those commands you need to look in a techincal manual for the specific GPS model. https://www.waveshare.com/w/upload/a/a9/U-blox-6-Receiver-Description-Including-Protocol-Specification.pdf As you can see from such a ...

Updating Qt to 5.14 from 5.12.5.
How & Where ? Also cross compilation ?

The "unaligned" exception in kernel point my gut feeling towards compiler/compiler-flags problems. ( maybe missing : -mno-unaligned-access )

Yes, there is several ways of loop-mounting images to get access to the file system.

Is see somenone made a few scripts to help with this: viewtopic.php?t=247568

Or you can read about the "kpartx" command which I use a lot.

All I really need is a smart playlist function
I'm not completely sure what you put in that definition of "smart playlist"

I would probably test vlc or cvlc ( command line version of VLC ) first.

Re: Retropie 4.6 image gives FAT rather than FAT32 boot partition

Should I be concerned about this or am I missing something? I see no reason to be concerned, if the RetroPie people choose to make their image that way, so be it. You shouldnt need to mess with that partition anyway, and you will of course make backup to all the other files so you can reinstall the...

Re: Tethering a Samsung S8 to Pi4

- Configure the phone to use tethering via USB.
- then connect it to the Pi.
- run the command "ip addr" in a terminal.

If you see a network interface called "usb0" then that is your phone.
If you post the output related to that interface we might be able to help you further.
