Re: Raid 5 Array Question

USB makes this more tricky than it should be.. the initialisation of USB devices is random in order so its not certain which device get to be sda/sdb/sbc on each boot. So the RAID work by using the UUID of each device instead. (ref blkid). So one way could be to temporary dismount the raid, connect ...

Re: Howto start 2 rtsp streams with omxplayer on a dual screen RPi4?

You put both commands in a script and then put a "&" at the end of each line.
Then both ccommands will start in the background, and to stop them you probably have to do "killall omxplayer"

Its very helpful if you include links to the guide/documentation you have followed. Most of the people answering questions here are not working for the RPF.

Re: Trying to close Kodi via SSH so I can use VNC

If you exit Kodi from Kodi do you then get a desktop ?
Do you need to access the desktop that is on the display or could it be a different desktop ?

Re: H264 format?

The file you get from "raspivid" is a raw h264 stream, this is less "normal" than you think. It does not have a .mp4 or .mov container, this is what the other softwares are complaining about.

More info here.

Re: Mesa is installed but it show old version

So we can ignore everyting outside of the chroot.. Then my guess its about the paths defined for "ld" ( dynamic-linker ) to look. Your build of Mesa might put the libraries in "/usr/local/lib" for example but there might be nothing in "/etc/ld.so.conf" or "/etc/ld.so.conf.d/" that tells the linker t...

Re: What's the best Linux distribution to install for a GPS tracker

You can try Raspbian Raspberry Pi OS Lite which comes without the Desktop.

There are many OS that can fulfill your requirements, but this is what most of us are using so you will get the most help by using the official distro.

If you enable NFS or CIFS/Samba/Windows shares on your NAS you should be able to mount on the Pi.

I would normally suggest Kodi since you can choose to play on another uPnP device when you browse media, but I understand your reservations. ( maybe with opengl on a Pi4 its possible to easily switch to desktop.. ) Very brief googling turned up the names "Serviio" and "Rygel", no personal experience...

You could play with the "-vo" options on mplayer ( I still recommend mpv its been a while since mplayer was maintained afaik. )

It might be a limitation in the GATT server example code you are using..

Maybe send the Author a question on GutHub to see if this is the case.

Re: HQ camera as webcam - need help

I understand where you are coming from, but few things should be as smooth as using the pure x264 stream from the camera. ( And if you loose data then you need to really take a closer look at your network hardware. ) - I havent tried it, but are wondering if omxplayer can play the stream on the Pi, ...

Re: usb

But first you REALLY need to check if Linux has loaded a driver for this unit or not.

- Boot your pi without the "AS606 fingerprint sensor" connected.
- Then connect the sensor.
- Then run the "dmesg" command in a terminal.
- post the last 15 lines here..

Have you considered/tested streaming the video directly to your PC ? play it with VLC for example and let OBS grab the VLC window, or see if there is a RTSP plugin for OBS.
or add it as a networked webcam: https://raspberrytips.com/raspberry-pi- ... as-webcam/

Code: Select all

I'm pretty sure those file paths does not exist on a Pi.

Re: Best way to create a web server with a Raspberry Pi - but with the content on an external drive

One solution should be to make a symbolic link.

example:

Code: Select all

sudo ln -s /media/pi/disk /var/www/html
But correct access-rights fro the user "www-data" could still be an issue...
What filesystem are on the external disk ? FAT/NTSF/Ext4 ?
