Re: Raspbian Chinese 6 inch display strange issue

Might help others to diagnose if you say how it is connected and a link or two that claim to show how it is supposed to work ... plus some info about what MS Windows says it is when it is connected there.

Re: Smart light Bulbs controlled by raspberry

Just as FYI ... Philips Hue uses a published 3rd-party standard (see above regarding standards). They use Zigbee and it is possible to control their lights without having a Philips Hue hub and a Zigbee adapter attached to a Pi (same for Ikea Trådfri and some others). However, updating the firmware (...

Re: Turn PI on/off when HDMI device is turned on/off

You might be lucky (like me) to have a TV that supplies enough power via USB to power the RPi AND has turns off the power to USB some minutes after thue DISPLAY OFF is sent via CEC. Provided you spot the OFF message and can make an orderly shutdown happen quickly then it works really well. I have th...

I think that current state of play is that Chromecast protocol for grouping devices have not been emulated (requires Google encryption keys) so not possible to build a 3rd-party receiver without active involvement of Google.

Re: Another Pi TV HAT question

I would have assumed that this would have worked but (assuming you are running VLC on the same Pi as TVHeadend then it implies to me that TVHeadend is listening on a specific IP address. It might be possible to configure it to listen on ALL network devices ... but you would have to look through the ...

Presumably it was to keep down the price and keep the overall height down so that it would fit in cases more easily.
However, they did promote 3rd-party push through pins on launch day - see the blog
