Re: [Tutorial] Squeezelite up and running on Raspbian

Just as FYI - it is not a real MAC address ... i.e. It is not changing the networking of the RPi.
Basically the player (Squeezelite in this case) passes this value as a parameter to identify itself.
In a real Squeezebox this would be the real MAC address.

Presumably a consequence of the announcement of a few weeks ago that Broadcom is to pull out of the baseband business.

Re: [Tutorial] Squeezelite up and running on Raspbian

@squiregeek you could use the -d and -f parameters to squeezelite to generate logs to try to capture a reported problem.
Be careful about setting (and leaving) a very high log level for a long time because of space.

No - in theory ... once ever (or at least every time that you make a settings change via amixer that you want to be permanent.

Odd thing is that I had to do this for one USB DAC that I had attached but not for another one.

Try forcing the setting to be saved with

Code: Select all

sudo alsactl store

Re: Preliminary B+ HAT (Hardware Attached on Top) docs/specs

Could a half-sized HAT be a CAP (Card Attached to Periphery) or is that a bit too close to a Beaglebone Cape?

(However, if all it is is a B card that can use the newly positioned mounting holes then I doubt it is worth doing a new spec etc for it)

Re: I want to buy a new Raspberry Pi but i need your help...

In general, you should issue a controlled shutdown rather than simply pulling the power. In XBMC there is a menu item to issue the shutdown. If the CEC link works the. You can also set it to perform an automated shutdown when you use the remote to turn off the TV (or really what you do is put the Ar...

Re: I want to buy a new Raspberry Pi but i need your help...

In general, PCs do not support the CEC signalling mechanism over HDMI so don't worry that it did not work there.
Better would be to join the forums on RaspBMC or OpenElec and see if anyone there has the same (or very similar) TV and the what success they had.

Re: I want to buy a new Raspberry Pi but i need your help...

I searched for me TV over the internet and it is CEC compatible :D I have this TV: Philips 42PFL3605H/12 So i should not buy the IR receiver? :) In theory, if you enable "Easylink" (that is what Philips calls it) on the TV then it should work. However, over the years I have seen Philips TVs as one ...

Re: I want to buy a new Raspberry Pi but i need your help...

Before you buy the IR receiver, check to see if your TV supports HDMI CEC (different brands use their own names).
If it does then there is a good chance that you will be able to control XBMC using the TV remote without extra hardware.

Re: Frustrated. Want to build an internet radio player.

From iOS I use both the Logitech free app and the non-free iPeng one.
I find that iPeng does a better job when working with multiple players and servers and you can also pay a bit more to turn iPeng into a Squeezebox player.

Re: Frustrated. Want to build an internet radio player.

If you want to sample Internet radio stations from around the world and easily save the best as "Favorites" so that you can get back to them easily then this is one of the big benefits of using LMS (eg via SqueezePlug). Unlike many of the other ways of handling internet radio, LMS has a curated data...

You should have good results using SqueezePlug - especially if you use the menu to install LMS and SqueezeLite.

Re: start.elf and rpi-update or apt-get upgrade

Looks like a few alternatives here ... - You might have to persuade Broadcom / RPi Foundation to incorporate the Broadcom changes for your device into the RPi start.elf ... assuming it can detect the difference between the devices at run time and handle it all properly. That makes extra work for BCM...

127.0.0.1 is a special IP address that is set to point to "localhost" - in other words "this machine". So, since you are using SqueezePlug and trying to make the local Squeezelite connect to the local LMS then you should edit the (from memory) /etc/default/squeezelite and configure it to set the ser...

Re: squeezeplug and squeezelite boot issue

When using wifi have you confirmed the the RPi can reach the LMS server? - e.g. Ping it if it can - the try running Squeezelite with the -s parameter to specify the IP address of LMS and see if that works. If it then works then the implication is that the UDP broadcast is not getting through. So que...
