Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

I thought I'd give motionPie a try out - and I have it running now with a old Logitech USB webcam (that is known to be a problem device). Initially I did not get very far though because after only a brief flash of the lights on the old RPi B nothing else happened. I traced it to the arm_freq=900 in ...

Re: Plus d'ethernet, plus d'usb + petit carré coloré

Sorry - have to switch to English this time as I do not have time to translate. If you use old very firmware (for a B) on a B+ then the USB and Ethernet will not work. For example - if you download an image from an old site. If you cannot borrow a B to perform the firmware upgrade the you can put th...

You can run that every time you want to check for updates.
Most times it will not find much to do.

Ethernet over HDMI has been previously reported as not possible in the B because of a limitation in the SoC so I presume that is still true with B+ as it is using the same SoC.

However, the blogger switched from Raspbian to Arch because he was unable to get that device working on Raspbian.

I suggest trying it using HDMI CEC first - if that works then there is nothing extra to buy.
I use the TV or DVD remote to drive 2 installations of XBMC on RPi.

Re: Raspberry Pi Media Player

I expect that once the official touchscreen display starts shipping then there will be some quick updates to existing solutions to make it work nicely.
So unless you are in a rush or want to experiment (which would be good experience) then I suggest waiting a bit longer for the screen part.

Re: How to sense when an appliance is running with a Pi

This might be over the top, but how about a clamp that sends data via Zigbee and then add a Zigbee board to the RPi?
If you have plans to monitor other things around the home as well then this could be a good starting point.
