Re: USB soundcard...Finally good (non HDMI) Analog Audio

Hi, i've also bought at AliExpress.com the PCM2704 DAC board. But can't get it working. I'm using the last RaspBmc. Choose the setting of audio engne and i see in the DMESG log and lsmod that usb_audio is loaded. Even i can get the analog out on the board working (not so loud, but working) if i cho...

Re: Streaming audio over WAN

You just port forward for MPD on your router to access web and use clients. But if you have multiple people access the server, then you probably will need icecast. I'm not familiar with that setup though.

Icecast isn't needed, MPD can stream without it.

[quote="azeam"] Ok, thanks. The issue isn't that, it's that the sound is distorted (seems as if it can't push the data fast enough), so I'll wait a bit with the rpi-update. Yup...if it went away plugging into a different outlet, that would point to a grounding issues. As for the issue with volume I would suspect the splitter and not the Pi. Does the TV increase in volume as well?

Re: how do you limit the overall upload/download speed of th

Most home routers have some capability of QoS that you can setup, I would look at that first. Otherwise you can only control outbound flows on the Pi using tc. Look at http://www.arvanta.net/~mps/linux-tc.html from more info or you can google "tc qos linux" for a bunch of links to running QoS on the...

Yeah...it most likely won't work unless you use an external antenna. Wi-Fi signals can not penetrate metal.

Re: Popping noise on analog output

It's basically 0.6 and 0.7V (not 6 or 7) IMHO, a small board with a codec chip would be the perfect solution for those who intend to use the Pi analog output for more than beeps and blips. I know you can buy cheap usb dongles, but they use up one of your usb ports. i've got the pcm2704 and i still ...

Sounds like the issue with the USB driver that's being worked on. Search the forum for "usb redux", there might be updates to that driver to help with the problem. My Pi is hardwired which is probably why I don't hear it.

Apart from the very high CPU usage when playing audio, it seems the a/v sync is off and it tends to reboot when switching to the next song in the queue! hmm, scratch that, the dac seems to work ok in my debian laptop, must be a pi or config issue. also getting clicks and pops between tracks with mpd really this DAC is no better than onboard analog for me, its just a bit louder That's too bad...lots are people are using this DAC and you're first per...

i hope its not the PCM2704 as it already took over 2 weeks to get here. is there such a thing as hdmi speakers, as hdmi sound is perfect and i wouldn't need the DAC Just use the digital ports on the PCM2704 (same thing as HDMI sound...basically), you won't get static because it's digital...just nee...

Re: cheapest battery pack for $14.96 + no usb peripherals is

Hello Fosforo , could you tell us how long the battery still alive with your raspberry please ? Battery is 5000mAH and Pi roughly using 750mA then math is simple 5000/750=6.6 hours. That's an approximation since the Pi's power requirements will vary with usage. Of course OP already mentioned about ...

Re: USB speakers - static when not playing

That's odd...I don't have that problem with my PCM 2704 card, my analog sound is very quite when nothing is playing. Sounds like a grounding problem and/or you're picking extraneous RF noise. Have you tried a different cable? Worst case is the PCM card you have is defective.

Not happening until someone fixes the PI's sound driver for the analog port which is getting little attention right now. The problem is most likely an issue with your TV. HDMI sound are digital signals and nothing more so noise can't be introduced if isn't there. It's possible you TV is not seeing enough power coming from the HDMI connection and that's causing problems for your TV. You can trying changing the "config_...

Re: How to measure amps of a solar panel

Amps, that is current, will be taken by something using it. To measure amps, normally you have to plug in the leads of your multimeter in a different way, then place the multimeter in the circuit, so the current flows through it. This can be dangerous.
