Re: Raspbmc is freezing :\

My psu was bought along with the Pi from RS so it should be more than appropriate. Even so, maybe you got a bad power supply, anyway to dig up a temporary supply? Do you have a PC kicking around with USB ports, could temporarily run the PI off of it to see if the problem continues. Lastly it could ...

Re: Webcam Operation not permtted

Make sure the username you are using is listed in the /etc/groups file. Otherwise it's possible you webcam is not being seen correctly by the PI.

Re: RaspBMC Video Scaling

Check your video settings in the System Setting screen...the resolution you're running at might be incorrect versus what your TV is actually capable of displaying. Mine initially got set to 1024x768, but my TV actually uses 1280x720.

Funny when you think the PI would leave the Sinclair QL in the dust on performance...sometimes it's amazing how far technology has come since then! I started off with a Commodore VIC-20!

Re: Recommed place to order for the US?

I just ordered my from MCM about a week and 1/2 ago and it shipped the next day, so hard to tell if there stock indication is accurate. Although at the time it did show the units in stock, but the next day backordered...so maybe I got lucky!

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

I also have got the same error. No solution I have . Did someone figured it out? Compilation stops while compiling 264 library. This happens on new 2012-09-18-wheezy-raspbian. I like this raspbian because it perfectly deals with my wifi dongle. I did not get this problem and I'm on the 2012-09-18 v...

Leave it running, why do you need to shut it down? The power the device uses is minimal.

Re: Playing with network settings.

Not really clear what you're trying to do, but you can set static IP's for wlan0. Best to probably just write a shell script that runs via a cronjob every 5 minutes to check your IP. Setting static IP from a shell prompt would be done: ifconfig wlan0 [ip address/cidr] up Example: ifconfig wlan0 192....

Re: Logitech Media Server / Raspbian

Just wanted to offer thanks for the info on how to get this going. Now my old Roku Soundbridge can play all those CD's I ripped into FLAC many moons ago! If I could also stream Pandora this way I'd be even more happy, but that doesn't look like its possible.

Re: Logitech k400 keyboard and v3.2

Add me to the list of it not working...neither removing/inserting the module via rc.local works or physically inserting/removing the usb receiver works. Guess I'll wait at this point as it looks like the problem might be related to the Debian distro.

Re: Trying to set eth0 to 100 full duplex no autonegotiate

You're probably having the problem because you don't have the full path of where ethtool is located...but that's not really the best way to do that. Do this instead cd 1) sudo nano /etc/init.d/autoneg #!/bin/bash /sbin/ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off speed 100 duplex full exit [save file] 2) chmod a+x /...

transmission-daemon will do what you are looking for

sudo apt-get install transmission-daemon

Can learn more about setting it up at http://www.webupd8.org/2009/12/setting- ... ui-in.html

Re: NFS mount gives segmentation error

Seems like a lot of extra steps in those instructions. All you should need to do is:

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/default/nfs-common
add the line "NEED_STATD=yes"
reboot PI or /etc/init.d/nfs-common restart
mount [IP Address]:/[directory] /[local directory]

Re: HDMI to Toslink or Coax Digital Audio

Same boat as you regarding TV and Receiver...you can just run an RCA cable from PI to your stereo. I haven't had a chance to test this yet though, but fairly certian you can send audio through both outputs, may just require creating an .asoundrc file for ALSA. I'll actually be testing this more late...

Re: Trouble mounting USB hard drive

My guess would be power is the problem...2.5 inch drives require about 1A to spin up. Take you're powered USB hub and plug that into system you used to verify the drive was okay and see if that works. What powered USB hub are you using, what is the power ratings on the hub? Not all usb powered hubs ...

Re: Popping/Static noise between songs

Thanks for the links...my problem isn't static, music actually sounds great (relatively speaking)...it's the popping noise between songs. If I had to guess, it's probably related to the opening and closing of the alsa driver between each song. I'll keep an eye on the github entry and watch for impro...

Re: Popping/Static noise between songs

I'm using the latest kernel (2012-09-18-wheezy-raspbian). I have HDMI running to my TV set for video, but don't want to turn on my TV to just listen to Pandora or CD's I've ripped to FLAC. I did come across this post http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=14968, but having trouble wi...

Popping/Static noise between songs

When running pianobar (Pandora Terminal client) or playing music via XBMC, I get an awful popping/clunking/static noise between each song transistion via the analog jack (haven't tried HDMI). For you old timers it's a lot like the sound you get droppping the needle onto a spinning record. I suspect ...
