Yeah, the upgrade did that as shown in dmesg Linux version 3.12.18+ ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.7.2 20120731 (prerelease) (crosstool-NG linaro-1.13.1+bzr2458 - Linaro GCC 2012.08) ) #677 PREEMPT Mon Apr 28 22:45:00 BST 2014 I added the "dwc_otg.speed=1" in the /boot/cmdline.txt to lower the USB...

Re: Sound is bad on USB sound card after recent upgrade

Anyone else using the PCM2704 finding problems with the recent update? No. But I'm having what sounds like the same symptoms (like a badly distorted mis-tuned FM radio) with a USB sound dongle based on the CM119 sound chip. I've only just received mine today, but it was recommended by someone of th...

Sound is bad on USB sound card after recent upgrade

I've been using a PCM2704 card for several years with great success. Well after doing a "rpi-update" my sound is awful, sounds like a badly received FM radio station. How do I go back to my prior update? Looking at dmesg and syslog provide no clues as to the problem. Anyone else using the PCM2704 fi...

What file format is your flash drive using? Trying changing it to ext3 as I suspect it's fat32 right now.

I use my Pi to send WoL packets to a couple of PC's in my house, works great. Just remember to enable WoL on the computer, not all of them come with it on by default.

Re: Remote access via SSH or VNC

The Pi could care less where you access it from. Generally your router that connects you to the internet needs to have a port redirection done in order to access devices internally in your LAN from remote locations. Review the manual of our router for port redirection and make sure you have strong p...

Posted this in your thread on the XBMC forum too (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=189768&pid=1659067#pid1659067): Yes, I saw your question on the raspberry pi forum. You didn't initially mention that you were also running Openelec which now explains why you posted here. The drive is most li...

You need to configure transmission to save files to a specific directory. Google for configuring transmission.

Re: USB soundcard...Finally good (non HDMI) Analog Audio

I've just this card today and it's playing audio great from the analog audio output on it, using aplay -Dhw1,0 audio.wav I don't get any output from the optical TOSLink, does this have to be selected separately? I don't believe so, my card plays out of both the TOS and analog port at the same time....

Re: connect with ssh outside my LAN

If you're being disconnected then sounds like a networking problem, unless you're being disconnected because of inactivity. You can review the sshd config to change this...you should be able to google sshd_config settings for things to change

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config

Re: When can we expect the next version of Raspberry pi?

The concept of the Pi as a cheap education device is certainly something they should stick with, so keep the current models around. But the hobbyist community shouldn't be ignored either and quad core Pi is something to consider as well fully understanding the price would be a bit more than current ...

Re: Raspberry Pi as PC and Media Center

Buy an Android TV stick, I've got a Raspberry Pi and a Minix Neo G4 and for browsing the G4 with it's 1.2GHz dual core CPU is very fast with little lag, almost as good as my HP Laptop. The Pi on the other hand is painfully slow with browsing. As a matter of fact the G4 has become my main media serve...

Re: Understanding Audio Output Options

The PCM2407 card is an excellent card and highly recommended. It is plug and play with the Pi, uses little power and has exceptional sound quality on the analog port as well as providing digital outputs if you want to send PCM to your home stereo via SPDIF. It is a 16 bit card where the output quali...

Well...all I know is that my Android TV stick with no battery hasn't had a problem with corruption like the PI has during a power outage..it's an achilles heal for the PI IMHO as it's happen 3 times to me now and a major PITA since I have to restore everything when it happens!

Re: Rasberry Pi for me?

XBMC runs on the PI, which provides the features you're looking for...but the PI's CPU isn't the fastest. My PI has been relegated to a NAS/MPD server as I recently picked up a Minix G4 dual-core android stick for $50 that runs XBMC's much better, plus you can access Netflix through google's app sto...

You can run speaker test with

But wouldn't worry about at this point if you're finding Audacity to be working.

aplay -l (lowercase L) would be more helpful. I'm guessing the onboard sound card is defaulting to index 0 while your usb card is defaulting to index 2.

Well, the Pi on average requires about 750mA, how much power does the drive you plan on using require? Add the 2 together, if you're under 2A then you're good to go.

You'll need to add this card or something similar to it. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/PCM2704-USB-DAC-USB-Power-fiber-optic-coaxial-analog-output-sz-11/813037_654055749.html?tracelog=back_to_detail_a Its a DAC as well, but if you pull from the coax port then it's essentially just converti...
