Re: Log files & SD Card wear

SD cards do have a finite number of R/W cycles. Are any of the power users seeing a degradation in reliability?

Has anyone calculated a theroretical lifespan for SD cards running R PI?

Thank you,
Jeff

Re: Text Editor with decent syntax highlighting

jed is a nice text based editor. It has drop down menus using the F10 key and "key" letters. It color highlights well.

To install:

apt-get install jed

Jeff

PS. I still prefer vim but I started with c and unix many years ago.

Re: Full vim with highlighting?

Thanks Richard,

I'll try again this evening. I got an error code during the download (get) phase. I had plenty of SD space. I installed jed just after trying vim twice. It worked fine.

I am really enjoying R Pi and raspian. It has brought back the excitement of the 70s.

Full vim with highlighting?

I tried to install the full version of vim without success using apt.

I would like to enable syntax but it is not possible with the tiny version of vim.

I installed jed without problem but I prefer vim.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Shouldn't Rpi developers be payed by the Foundation?

I wouldn't mind if the originators of R Pi were paid. They continue to put a lot of time into the foundation. However, I don't think that the open source developers should be paid. When I have more time after my current internship, I would be glad to volunteer my meager efforts. This is a great "lea...

The fun is back!

RPi_LA.JPG RPi.JPG I was back in the states a couple of weeks ago and picked up my newly delivered R Pi. I'm back in Germany and just found the time to hook it up. I used an SD card from a camera, an old keyboard and mouse, and the power supply from my Kindle, all hooked up to an antique 25" Panaso...

<t>In the qrp amateur radio community, it is considered poor practice to sell projects developed by non-profit organizations or groups at more than the original cost. My ship date with Newark/Farnell has been changed to May 15 according to an email I received today.

I was hoping to get one before I left for Germany this sumer. I guess it isn't going to happen. Maybe I can get one while in Germany. I'll have to see if they ship to an APO.

If the R-Pi were made by Ford, it would be nicknamed Ed, have a funny grill with an odd shape, and a cover that would slide back into the trunk if you held the actuator knob juuust riiight.
