Re: Screen Configuration tool is gone...

I'd start with bellsoft, but wouldn't expect a reply. Mesa seems partially responsible here, but since you don't get sensible output in any case, I think the root of the problem is in openjfx.

Ah, so it sounds like openjfx being openjfx then. Not sure if much can be done there.

Re: newer software request

Raspbian follows Debian. Debian freezes software versions for a 'stable' release. It doesn't look like the package has been getting a lot of attention in Debian. Even their unstable release is quite old. Either the maintainer doesn't have a lot of time or there's an issue preventing newer versions f...

Re: Screen Configuration tool is gone...

Any idea if there's different behaviour with the normal repo version of javafx with and without FKMS enabled? Since that would indicate it may be a Mesa driver issue I could pass on to the devs.

Also, I think it's hidden if you're using legacy video rather than FKMS.

I believe the tool you're talking about is arandr. If installed, it should show up in Preferences, as 'Screen Configuration'.

Re: Raspbian - NTP servers passed by DHCP ignored

Our DHCP server doesn't provide the NTP option, so it's a little tricky to figure out exactly what's going on in your case. Some ideas for you to try: the -U and -T options of dhcpcd and adding debug messages into the ntp hook and seeing how it ends up setting the time in your case. You should be ab...

Do you have NTP installed?

Do any of these files exist: /usr/sbin/ntpd, /usr/sbin/openntpd, usr/sbin/chronyd?

Re: Ctrl-Alt-Del confusion

Not sure. AFAIK, the only changes that affect openbox would've been colour and font settings in the 'System' tab of 'Appearance Settings'. If you ran obconf at some point, it is also likely to have done this. Or, if it's an old install, you may have the file from the previous method we had for manag...

Re: Ctrl-Alt-Del confusion

If you haven't modified any openbox settings before, it will use the global file, provided by the package, which will have the change. If you have made modifications, they're stored in your home directory and are not over-written by the package. That's why you get a message box telling you that you ...

You could try the very latest image - https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspb ... buster.zip

It's still being uploaded, so it may 404 - just refresh a few times.

Re: New "Can't update Chromium" message?

It's a bug within chromium.

The message should not be there unless it's an official chrome build. It's fixed in a later version, so the next release of chromium shouldn't have it.

Re: New Buster Installation ... testing channel ??

All packages in archive.raspberrypi.org are 'testing'. If we change it then we will have the same issue as when Debian bumped stable to Buster - apt stops working until people manually accept that change. Since most people have no idea what that means, it's just a confusing message. Worse, apt-get d...

Re: New "Can't update Chromium" message?

maybe the chromium standard update interval happened yesterday. It's a hard-coded check for 12 weeks after the last source file in the build was modified, which was around November. since november 2019, my RPi4B (4GB) has become my main web browser computer i use daily many times. it is 24/7 online...

No, I think it takes 2 hours for the message to show up and should've started roughly when this thread started. If you haven't seen it, you may have not had the browser open for that long.

Re: Problem 7 led act raspberry pi4 with sudo reboot

The raspi-config change is intentional. There are a number of setting which are user-specific rather than system-wide. But you're excluding user 'root' from being one of those users. Yes. If you're using raspi-config and don't know why you wouldn't want to autologin as root, then it won't let you s...

Re: New "Can't update Chromium" message?

Not any time soon. The dev is currently working on video stuff and I'm told porting the chromium changes to the newer version is non-trivial.

If there's significant demand, we could temporarily add the workaround I mentioned earlier as a default.
