Re: Raspbian 'Buster' 2019-06-20 / 07-10

It's looking a little trickier than I would've hoped. I'd like to keep mesa at 19.1, but this set of changes is only on the master branch. I'm not quite confident enough that i can unravel all the required commits without missing something or adding something extra and breaking something in a subtle...

Re: Why in 2017 do we still not have BTRFS in Raspbian?

I don't think anybody is ignoring it. In fact, I'm using it on my pi.

As I see it, the issue isn't BTRFS itself or any other kernel module, but proper initramfs support.

128 should be enough, although I'd try 256 just to be on the safe side.

How much GPU RAM do you have enabled? Both videos work fine here.

Re: RPi4 Buster Kernel Mismatch Error

Whatever is giving you that message, it's not installed by default. I don't know where it's getting its information from, but it probably expects a standard debian kernel setup, which is not something we use.

Re: Raspbian 'Buster' 2019-06-20 / 07-10

It was more of a workaround. Something to do with switching from a gtk 2 to a gtk 3 backend is all I remember.

Mesa also has a proper fix, but that hasn't made its way into raspbian yet. I am looking at updating it soon.

Re: Why did update suggest removing Thonny

Found the cause and an update should come out later. The new behaviour is that just using 'upgrade' will hold the package back without removing anything, but dist-upgrade will result in the old packages getting removed and the new thonny package being installed. The solution was to also add 'python3...

Re: Anki not is working

Not sure how up to date my information is or how accurate my memory is, but I seem to recall looking into it and it's just that one of the dependency packages is too much of a hassle to build for the pi, so it wasn't included in Raspbian.

Like I said in another thread, if there's a problem, please give details. "A guy at work had a problem with chromium" or anything along those lines is not something that can be investigated. An office full of people here do not see most of the problems you've mentioned. Quite a few of them use the ...

Re: pigpio hardware PWM hangs forever in RPi 4

I seem to have introduced a bug into V70 re killing off aborted Python sessions. I doubt it affects many people but might be best if the powers that be delay updating pigpio until V71 (whenever that will be). Phew. Just as I was about to push v70 into the apt repo. Thanks, I'll shelve it for now an...

Re: GUI command on SSH doesn't work on Buster LIte

Hi, OK maybe it's true. But i use a lot of linux server ditributions for work and after install gparted, i can run it without any GUI or Desktop Environment. Are you sure on the Raspberry it is strongly necessary? May be the basic GUI is actually installed on your server pc's but is not in use, but...

Re: GUI command on SSH doesn't work on Buster LIte

Try `sudo -E gparted`

No, you don't need a full desktop on the pi for X11 forwarding to work. Raspbian lite is just fine for what you're doing.

No luck with the latest version of coin3d and soqt using these instructions either - https://bitbucket.org/Coin3D/coin/wiki/BuildWithCMake I've tried a few examples that try to use them, but I get the context setup error from cc_glglue_instance and then the segfault. Re: Support period of Raspbian stretch (now that buster is out)

Please note there's no guaranteed support for archive.raspberrypi.org packages outside of whatever the current 'stable' release is. If there's a security issue that I'm made aware of, I may go back and fix it, but in general, the stretch packages are frozen as they are.

Any chance of working something out with Google for Widevine DRM in Raspbian Chromium? It's near impossible to get redistribution rights for widevine. Re: FreeCAD on PI4 and Raspbian Buster.

Hi all, I'm the maintainer of FreeCAD on Debian. The issue in the first post was likely caused by having freecad-doc installed; the old version of freecad-doc is no longer co-installable with the new package, because it installs files on a path that is now a symlink managed by the alternatives syst...
