Re: Advice with Mono C# and serial ports

Hi, I need to run my C# code in Pi. It contains some serial comm functionality, i am using mono to convert my .cs file. But it is throwing some error stating on serial comm. I know that windows code directly wont match for pi because of serial driver variation. But i dont know how to use the serial...

Will test it on a fresh Image Installation (don't want to use NOOBS) later this day.
If Mono finally works fine, that's great News as several of my RPi Projects involve C#.

Re: Raspberry PI Calculator?

How sophisticated do you want to go? For the Basics, you could just take a USB numpad and an LCD Screen.
Do do it really nice though, you'd Need a custom case.

High gain antenna is usually a better solution than more power, especially with the WLAN spec limiting the power.

I got myself the XBox DVD kit. I like the Looks of the remote and the Receiver is actually USB, it just takes some soldering which shouldn't be too hard for a beginner.

I'd say, that depends on the converter. It is recommended to use hdmi_safemode=1 with those things.

Re: Start Java Application with the boot

This isn't really specific to Java so I'll share my Mono Setup: Create a new file with nano /home/pi/.config/autostart/App.deskop and write [Desktop Entry] Type=Application Exec=mono /home/pi/App/Weather\ Slice.exe into it. I execute mono PathToApp, it would be java PathToApp in your case. This "gui...

OtherCrashOverride wrote: When/if the streaming client source code is released, it may be possible to port that. But the latency introduced by the Pi h264 decoder would probably make it unsuitable for real-time games (shooters).
Can you explain that? How is a Hardware Decoder supposed to introduce notable latency?

Re: VB.Net GPIO

Nope. But you can either just add a C# class to your Project and use it from your VB class, or you can translate C# to VB either manually or using http://converter.telerik.com/

Remember: C# and VB are pretty much identical. The only difference is a Little Syntax.

This doesn't black the Screen, it just clears the console window.
I mean blacking the Screen. Such as "Make every Pixel black". Without the console, on the Desktop.

API to black screen?

Is there an API to black the screen? Something like

Code: Select all

from module ('desktopapi.so') call function blackscreen(true)
Is there an API like that?
