I just dug in my parts bin. I had a plastic hollow cylinder (a tube) that fit pretty good. I then use hot glue to fill the key.

Pi-A-Sketch code review

In case you hadn't seen it, I put the Pi-A-Sketch code on bitbucket, and I did a full code review here: http://raspberry-python.blogspot.com/2013/01/pi-sketch-code-review.html Might help those starting out with GPIOs or stepper motors (I also recommend reading http://raspberry-python.blogspot.com/20...

Re: Using a Pi as an Arduino

The instructable you point to is doable with a Raspberry Pi. It's all digital, fairly straightforward. Having said that, none of the code is usable, you'll have to come up with your own code.

You could use espeak instead, it is known to work properly on the Pi.

Re: On GPIO turn off power pins?

Is it possible to turn off GPIO pin 2? (Reference 5v Model B Pi, GPIO Rev2) Is it just a matter of setting the state of the pin to low state? I have a device I want to turn on or off via GPIO that uses pins 2 (5v) and 6 (ground). I have seen many examples of controlling state of the various GPIO pi...

In one week from now, I'll be presenting: "Raspberry Pi: From Kindergartners to Mad Scientists" Same title from PyCarolinas 2012, but it is updated information, and more aligned with my audience of mostly engineers: http://ewh.ieee.org/r3/winston-salem/ That's Winston Salem, NC, USA. See the other thread:

Morse is a classic case for a dictionary. At the other end of the spectrum, on the other thread, I posted a dichotomic tree solution, with gpio.

Thanks for a v quick reply TechPaul (and Texy's comments) which helps my understanding but leaves me doubting if what I'm trying to do can be done at all. Re: Morse Code Program

Matt, I basically gave you a dictionary that does it: letter2morse = { 'a':'.-', 'b':'-...', ... } Of course, instead of ... you will have to add the equivalent for c, d, e, f etc... Then all you need is to use the dictionary directly instead of a function: for letter in words.lower(): morsecode = l...

Re: Channel in Use error

You need to run gpio.cleanup(). Or in your case, since you are importing in CAPS, then you will call GPIO.cleanup(). Of course, since you are in a loop, you'll need to handle the keyboard exception to call the cleanup: http://raspberry-python.blogspot.com/2012/11/pyhack-workshop-01.html Specifically...

Hi, I had the innovative idea earlier of creating a very interesting morse code program which would utilise the Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins. Whwn the program is executed, the user will be asked to "Enter A Word: " After the user enters the word, the Python program will break the word down into it's in...
