Re: EmulationStation - an emulator front-end

Would it be possible to have ES use both a keyboard and a controller for menu navigation? The UltraSlim package works well, but it has a flaw: If I want to use XBMC, I have to grab my controller to launch it, but I use my TV Remote to control that. CEC support would be awesome, but if I could use my...

Re: RaspBerry Pi(e) Model C (imaginations & wants)

Mini-ITX is too big, I propose keep the current size and call it Pi-TX :) Its not like you can't buy cases for them, a Model C should hopefully keep the same layout. I think the ports on the Pi are fine, if anything upgrade the USB to 3 and the Ethernet to Gigabit and that would help the I/O for it ...

Re: Owncloud 5 + NGINX Installation Guide

I followed this guide last night, a quick tip for anyone going to follow the tutorial: Watch for correct line breaks when you copy/paste commands from the PDF, I used SSH from a windows PC and had notepad open to paste the commands into first to assure proper formatting. I am having a problem though...

Re: VSFTP Server and Samba Permissions

Why are you running vsftpd? FTP is one of the most insecure protocols available. When they designed that thing the Internet Engineering folks couldn't even spell security. What's wrong with using sshd as a secure ftp (sftp) server? (Hint: you will need to change the umask in sshd.config.) FTP still...

Re: shared folders between raspberry+win7

its probably not a samba problem, you have to make sure the shares files have guest access

chmod 777 shareddirectory

Re: VSFTP Server and Samba Permissions

I fixed this by making the umask 000 in vsftpd.conf, which makes anything uploaded via FTP completely accessable to the Samba share

VSFTP Server and Samba Permissions

I currently have Samba setup insecurely (on purpose), anyone on my network can read and write to my NasPi, which is fine (just me and the gf). It seems to work fine. The thing is, I'm trying to setup VSFTP, looging in as the Pi user, that has read and write access to the same folder that the Samba s...

Tips for NAS Usage

1. This guide is great for starting out, I recommend using 2 drives unless data is backed up somewhere else. http://www.howtogeek.com/139433/how-to-turn-a-raspberry-pi-into-a-low-power-network-storage-device/ Just don't use NTFS drives on the Pi unless you really like Turtle speeds (the guide tells ...

Re: NetFlix Hulu and other external media sources

I'm all for a closed source add on for an open source web browser that allows Netflix.

Netflix is the reason my RasPi with OpenElec is going to be replaced with the new AMD BRIX when it is released (cheaper than the i3 BRIX).

The default OS install does not include an FTP server and the OP does not indicate one is installed, so I would start there.

Search for vftp server setup

Hard drives start to go bad eventually, it would be nice to be able to know when/if they start to develop bad sectors.

Re: How-To: Raspberry Pi media SERVER (easy)

A couple points to make when I did this 6 months ago: 1. I had to chmod the whole directory structure before I had permission to write anything. 2. NTFS is a bad idea, backup your data and reformat using ext4. 3. I had to configure the NFS settings before XBMC on a 2nd Pi could access it. Do you kno...

Guide Request: NAS Setup with SMART Alerts

I've been using a Pi as a NAS for about 6 months, but I've never been able to get the SMART check and email alerts to work right. I get email mainly about RSYNC having permissions issues on the 2nd drive. The emails themselves also don't work right, I used my gmail account for the mail servers to se...

Re: Teamviewer Raspberry Pi

The web version of teamviewer uses Flash, I use it on my Chrome book all the time and it works well on there.

Try going to teamviewer.com and logging in from a Windows PC and you can see.

Not sure if Flash is still a hurdle for the Pi or not.

Well, its possible by that you are asking too much of your Pi, but I can do you what I do: Pi 1 is the server with 2 HDDs formatted ext4 rsync'd together for redundancy, and has both a samba and NFS shares on it so both Windows and Linux PCs can connect to it. Pi 2 has OpenELEC with the NFS movies a...

Quick question

You guys that are saying its not possible, are aware that Raven released the source code to these games earlier this year right? Or is there something missing that would stop the port to ARM?
