Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

OK, this is where I might pause for the night. Getting to the other side will take some time since the controller board has been attached by melting the plastic mounts through screw holes in the PCB, plus there are numerous connections (speakers, ground) that require unsoldering before I can get it ...

Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

Lots of 101s but none are connected to this pin, plus it really looks like it has no connection (no trace). Could the resistance be coming from inside the 8D02D?

Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

I see a resistance of about 100 Ohms between them, but there is no trace coming from pin 2 on the 8D02D.

Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

Thanks for clarifying. Pin 63 on the 8D02D is not connected directly to ground, but has a resistance of about 48K to ground. Do you mean that I should unsolder this pin at the chip? That seems like it will be a bit difficult, my soldering iron is not very precise but I guess I can pry it up with a n...

Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

This big chip is a 8D02D A542K0071. The closest datasheet I could find is of the 8D02E: http://fckuo.sg1003.myweb.hinet.net/spec-pdf/8D02E.pdf Pin 37 on the CSC3100 is connected through a 1.8K resistor to pins 1,3,4,5 and 33 of the 8D02D. For the 8D02E datasheet, these are VCC, RS4, RS3, RS2 and VCC...

Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

Yes I did disconnect pin 3 at the header on the mainboard side. Also, no change after grounding pin 7. Still have the horizontal distortion.

Edit: pin 1 -> pin 3

Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

Thanks, I did measure it with a voltmeter to make sure it was low and it was low. In the datasheet it is a selection line, and since I already see the signal from video-in (albeit distorted) I had assumed that this line was properly configured.

I will try grounding it just to be sure.

Re: Salvaging screen from old portable DVD player (working)

I have a similar unit to OP (the chip in question is the CSC3100 for which I have found the datasheet here: http://appnote.avrportal.com/datasheets/TFT-Controller/CSC3100en.pdf) and have done the following: - wired the composite signal to pin 3 of CSC3100 (at the cable header, after the cap and resi...

Re: How to enable the camera

I am having the same issue on ArchLinux after building the userland tools [1] and modifying the /boot/config.txt [2]. The LED turns on for a few seconds when the Pi is powered up but that's about it. I've tried reseating the cable. [1] http://www.darkoperator.com/blog/2013/5/23/fixin-raspistill-and-...
