difference between hard float and soft

What's the difference between the hard float and the regular image on the download page?

Never heard the term hard float before and am just wondering.

Thanks in advance

motion & usb cam

I've been trying to get motion to run on a constant basis but it appears that the usb bus falls into a sleep mode disabling the cam. The usb cam is a Microsoft Corp. LifeCam NX-3000 (UVC-compliant). It works for about an hour or so and then the cam turns off. I've tried it in a usb hub and from the ...

Re: Saba swat (Solved)

Thanks ROFLhoff. The xinitd did the trick. I couldn't remember if arch included swat or not in the standard package. In fedora it is a separate download. So all I needed to do was pacman -S xinitd. Edit xinitd to allow swat access and viola swat is working as intended. Thanks again all for your help...

Re: pacman -Syu : error glibc : /lib is already there...

pepedog, hate to say this but now more problems after the updates. Installed sudo and configured it and rebooted the system with reboot kernel panic and hit kdb with a long list of kernel errors. Yes this was after dd the sd card to an image file which should not have affected the sd card at all. I'...

Re: pacman -Syu : error glibc : /lib is already there...

8-) 8-) Thank you very, very much pepedog, your link and instructions worked beautifully! My RPI is now running and up to date. I'm now creating an RPI.img file on my laptop using the dd command on my archlinux laptop. This way if I brick my system a simple dd will bring my pi back to life. Next up i...

Re: Official images is useless?

I've got the same problem here. I posted under the pacman -S pacman fail post I think it was. The image is useless unless you want to spend hours and hours of research to find the fix. Is it to much to ask for a new image that already has the glib problem corrected and therefore eliminating further ...

Re: pacman -Syu : error glibc : /lib is already there...

The Arch image needs to be rebuilt or the update for glibc needs to be removed from the updates until the problem is resolved! I've bricked my system a half a dozen times today trying to get the damn thing working! Any of you devs out their reading this please fix this problem or build a new image t...

What desktop works best ArchLinux

I had Arch running once with KDE as the desktop and it was so horribly slow that it was completely worthless. I have since reloaded the SD to start over and I'm wondering what's the best desktop to use that wont be so slow that it is unusable like KDE was. Has anyone tried the xfce desktop? Gnome is...

Re: US Source for power supply?

In the case that you are describing I would suggest setting them up with a battery from a cell phone with a charging circuit that an external adapter could be plugged into. This would eliminate the need for the kids to have a power source available in the classroom. I'm new to RaspBerry Pi but I do ...
