Re: Ethernet chip gets raging hot

Mine gets very hot too. Over 50 deg. C - burn sensation on the tip of the finger.

Compiling some software on a USB HDD. Swapfile configured on the same USB HDD.

4.95V between the test pins.

No lockups yet using the kernel from here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 889#p75889

Re: P2 connector use ?

Thanks a lot ! On http://elinux.org/RPi_Low-level_peripherals it says: It is also possible to reconfigure GPIO connector pins P1-7, 15, 16, 18, 22 (chipset GPIOs 4 and 22 to 25) to provide an ARM JTAG interface. So i presume P2 is the JTAG for the GPU, used to load the boot code and none of those pi...

Re: RTC

As soon as we have working I2C or SPI drivers for the RPi, all that remains is connecting a 3.3V RTC board to the GPIO pins and loading a kernel module - as most (if not all) of the common RTC chips already have kernel drivers.

P2 connector use ?

Hi everyone. What's the use of the P2 connector ? P1 is the GPIO, all pins are doccumented: http://elinux.org/RPi_Low-level_peripherals P3 is the JTAG, no header attached, useless for us mere mortals. But what about P2 ? If there's a header attached, then it must be something useful for us end-users...

Re: Serial Port Adapter Compatibility

One more vote for max3232 - 3.3v, only uses 2mA (the 3.3V pin in the GPIO header will supply max 50mA, so if you want to add more peripherals later you have to consider this) and you can use whatever caps you have around, electrolytic or not, 0.1 µF for C1, 0.1 µF or higher for the rest. My RPi is v...

One bug - now, with the old forums gone, there's no place to signin into WordPress to comment on the blog on the 1st page using your WordPress account and not having to fight with the malfunctioning captcha.

Please add a small Login to WordPress box on the left side of the main page !

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi

DLT Tape case. Tools used: - marker; - pin, held with a pair of pliers, heated over a candle until glows red, cuts through plastic like butter for 2-3 seconds; - box cutter for smoothing the hole edges. Pro: - fits RPi + simmilar sized perfboard perfectly. - DLT tape cases stack perfectly (ridges on...

How about a DLT Tape drive case ? Fits the Pi + a simmilar sized perfboard quite nicely.

It looks good on paper.

Let's wait for Tsvetan to finish the iMX233 OLinuXino first.

Then let's hope they'll have no readblocks with Linux and the required drivers.

Yay! More cheap computers for everybody !

Don't forget the Spectrum clones - more than 90% of Eastern Europe & Russia had a Speccy clone as their 1st computer.
